Tua Tagovailoa, Malik Nabers NFL Injury Statuses and Fantasy Impact for Week 18

Joe Tansey

The Miami Dolphins will likely be without Tua Tagovailoa in NFL Week 18 as they try to make a final push into the AFC postseason field.

Miami needs to beat the New York Jets and have the Denver Broncos lose to the Kansas City to qualify as a wild-card team. Tagovailoa will be replaced by Tyler Huntley.

Tagovailoa's absence is just another one that fantasy football players have to navigate at quarterback in Week 18.

A handful of notable quarterbacks are either injured, or sitting out in Week 18, which makes the waiver wire tough to wade through at the quarterback position.

The news is better at wide receiver, where Malik Nabers is off the injury report after being a limited participant in practice earlier this week.

Below is all of the significant injuries that will affect fantasy football championship matchups in Week 18.

Tua Tagovailoa Doubtful For Sunday

Tua Tagovailoa is officially listed as doubtful for Sunday's clash with the New York Jets.

Tagovailoa went into length about the hip issue on Friday, per the Miami Herald's Omar Kelly.

"When it comes to pain, I'm good with all of that," he said. "I thought I could have played last week, but the doctors said no. That's all it was. They're giving it as much time to heal. "It's just the restriction of what the doctors are saying I can't do. If the cards play out the way we should and the way we think we can, I am going to be available next week. There are no ifs, ands or buts. I'll be playing. That's for sure… I'm feeling a lot better."

Tagovailoa might be ready to play next week, but that may not matter if the Broncos wrap up the final AFC wild-card spot with a win over the Kansas City Chiefs' backups.

Tyler Huntley produced 225 passing yards, 52 rushing yards and two total touchdowns in Week 17's win over the Cleveland Browns.

Huntley is one of the more viable waiver-wire candidates to trust if you are participating in a fantasy football championship in Week 18.

Huntley and the Dolphins are going up against a Jets defense that allowed over 340 total yards in three of the last four weeks.

Countless other backup quarterbacks will be looked at by fantasy players in Week 18, but Huntley is one of the best options because of the matchup and the multiple starts he's made this season.

Malik Nabers Off Injury Report

Malik Nabers will be on the field for the finale of his first NFL regular season.

Nabers was taken off the injury report on Friday. He was a limited participant in practice on Thursday with a toe issue.

The rookie wide out is coming off the best game of his young career in Week 17, when he posted 171 yards and two touchdowns against the Indianapolis Colts.

Nabers and the New York Giants sit in an interesting spot in Week 18 against a Philadelphia Eagles team resting starters for the postseason.

Philadelphia's offense isn't expected to be as effective as it usually is, which means the Giants should have more possessions.

The matchup against the Eagles secondary could be easier for Nabers as well if the reserves play across the board for the NFC East winner.

Nabers only had 41 receiving yards on four catches in his first meeting with the Eagles, but those numbers are expected to go up given the lack of stakes for Philadelphia in Week 18.
