Updated 2025 NFL Draft Order Following Week 17 Results

Joe Tansey

A surprising result shook up the 2025 NFL draft order for the second straight week.

The New York Giants fell out of the projected top spot with an unexpected win over the Indianapolis Colts that also knocked the AFC South side out of the postseason.

The Giants' win catapulted the New England Patriots into the top position in the projected order.

New England, New York, the Tennessee Titans and Cleveland Browns all enter Week 18 at 3-13 and with chances to land the No. 1 overall pick.

The Patriots are in the best position of the four teams, but one thing seems for sure, one member of that quarter will pick first. It is highly unlikely that all four teams pick up Week 18 wins.

Giants Relinquish Top Pick with Upset of Colts

The Giants went from No. 1 to No. 4 in the latest draft order with their surprising win over the Colts.

New York was in control of the top spot in the draft going into Week 17 thanks to the Las Vegas Raiders' win in Week 16 over the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Now, the Giants have slightly cleared themselves out of the competition to land the top pick.

The win could be disastrous for the Giants' offseason plans because there is no guarantee that a franchise quarterback will be waiting for them at No. 4.

Shedeur Sanders and Cam Ward are the only first-round-caliber quarterback prospects in the 2025 draft class and they could easily land in Tennessee and Cleveland.

The Giants' new position could force them to explore the veteran quarterback market, which would come at a far more expensive price than a top-five pick.

At least the Giants can come away from Sunday knowing that Malik Nabers is the present and the future at wide receiver. He had 171 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

The Giants just have to figure out which quarterback will be throwing to Nabers in 2025 and beyond.

New England Now in Pole Position to Land Top Pick

New England couldn't have asked to sit in a better position.

The Patriots have the best chance to land the No. 1 overall pick and they already have theirt quarterback of the future in Drake Maye.

New England could select Travis Hunter, or one of the top offensive linemen in the draft with the No. 1 pick.

The AFC East side could also shop the top pick to collect more assets to build around Maye. That could be the worthy move because the draft class is thin at quarterback and plenty of struggling teams have a need at the position.

Either way, the Patriots just have to lose to the Buffalo Bills in Week 18 to feel secure about earning the top pick.

But it won't be easy to lose to the Bills if they play their backups. Buffalo is locked into the No. 2 seed, so New England's starters might pick up a win and shake up the draft order further.
