Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders was surprised after seeing a sign encouraging the Las Vegas Raiders to tank in order to select him early in the 2025 NFL draft.
Sanders called the situation "crazy" on his podcast, 2Legendary with Shedeur Sanders (2:30 mark).
"Whenever you see a fan took his time out of the day to bring that sign and then it's on TV and everything, it's just like dang, this is crazy," Sanders said. "It feels real. It's real, now."
During the Raiders' 15-9 loss to the Atlanta Falcons on Dec. 16, a fan was seen holding a sign encouraging his team to tank for the Buffaloes signal-caller.
Sanders finished No. 8 in 2024 Heisman Trophy voting, helping lead Colorado to an impressive 9-3 record.
In 12 appearances, he completed 74.2 percent of his passes for 3,926 yards and 35 touchdowns compared to eight interceptions. He also scored four more times on the ground.
The Raiders and New York Giants have both been linked to him already.
He's expected to hear his name called early in the 2025 draft, as he was selected by Las Vegas with the No. 2 overall pick in the latest mock draft of the top 10 choices from Bleacher Report's Brent Sobleski.
B/R NFL Scout Dame Parson highlighted Sanders' pocket presence during his scouting report of the signal-caller.
"Shedeur Sanders is one of the purest passers from the pocket in college football and the NFL Draft class," Parson wrote. "This will make him appealing to NFL offensive coordinators and head coaches."
If the Raiders were attempting to secure the No. 1 pick for Sanders, they hurt their chances with a 19-14 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday.
As things currently stand, the Giants own the top selection with a 2-13 mark while five other teams hold identical 3-12 records.
