Houston Texans safety Calen Bullock received a $11,832 fine from the NFL for a pair of unnecessary roughness violations during the team's 20-12 win over the Miami Dolphins in Week 15, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.
This included a helmet-to-helmet hit on Dolphins receiver Grant DuBose, which resulted in a trip to the hospital for the wideout.
DuBose was placed on injured reserve by Miami on Tuesday, marking the end of his 2024 season with three games left on the schedule.
The 23-year-old was eventually released from the hospital and was seen walking around the Dolphins' locker room with his teammates during a practice session on Thursday (h/t Joe Schad of the Palm Beach Post).
After the game, Bullock explained that he wasn't intentionally attempting to injure DuBose.
"My intentions was never to go out there and hurt nobody, that's never any of our intentions," Bullock said, via KPRC 2 Houston's Aaron Wilson. "So, prayers out to him and his family. I hope he's good. I was just seeing the ball and I was breaking on the ball and it just happened to be one of those type of plays."
He was fined $5,916 for his hit on DuBose and was also penalized $5,916 for a separate hit on Dolphins running back De'Von Achane in the first quarter of the game. Six Texans players received fines for their actions during the contest, per the NFL.
Bullock has developed into a key starter for Houston throughout his rookie season, helping the team sit in first place among all AFC South teams with a 9-6 record. In 14 appearances heading into Week 16, he recorded 44 tackles and 10 passes defensed to go along with five interceptions.
He also amassed five tackles during the Texans' 27-19 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs on Saturday.
