Jalen Hurts' decision to wear two different colored shoes during the Philadelphia Eagles' 27-13 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 15 cost him some money.
Per NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, the league has fined Hurts $5,628 for "wearing a shoe color that's not one of the Eagles' constitutional team colors."
Jordan Brand told Boardroom's Nick DePaula it will cover the fine on Hurts' behalf.
"We're paying the fine," the company said. "You can't ban greatness."
Hurts earned the moniker "Jalen Two Shoes" earlier this season when he had to swap out one of his cleats for a play in the fourth quarter of the Eagles' 37-17 win over the Cincinnati Bengals on Oct. 27.
The situation happened when Hurts lost his shoe running down the sideline, but he couldn't immediately get it back on and the Eagles had to use a timeout so he could find a replacement cleat before running the next play.
"I hate that we had to burn a time out on that one. I tied it up so tight, I could not take the knot off. So, I had to go 'Jalen Two-Shoes' for a bit," Hurts joked after the game.
Even though Hurts' decision to bring back his alter ego in Week 16 came at a cost to his wallet, good things seem to happen when he's wearing two different cleats.
Arguably the two best passing performances of the season for Hurts came in games when he used two different color cleats for at least one play. He 16-of-20 for 236 yards and one touchdown against the Bengals.
After a week of headlines about the state of his relationship with A.J. Brown, Hurts responded by going 25-of-32 for 290 yards and two touchdowns against a Steelers defense that allows the sixth-fewest points per game.
Hurts and the Eagles have already clinched a playoff berth. They can win the NFC East on Sunday with a win over the Washington Commanders at Northwest Stadium.
