Wide receiver Dallas Wilson, a 5-star prospect who signed for Oregon, has asked for his release from the program to instead sign with Florida and be closer to a sick family member.
"It's not about money," his agent, Vernell Brown, told Matt Baker of The Athletic. "It's about the kid wanting to be closer to an ailing family member. I think anybody can understand that."
Wilson is considered the No. 20 prospect overall in the Class of 2025, the No. 4 wide receiver and the No. 3 player from the state of Florida, per 247Sports' Composite Rankings.
Andrew Ivins of the recruiting site described Wilson as a "self-assertive wide receiver with the size, hands and speed to emerge as a true impact player for a College Football Playoff contender" who "must buy into the process at the college of his choice and continue to keep evolving as a player, but has NFL potential."
He is Oregon's No. 3 overall incoming prospect in a 2025 class that ranks third in the nation, but would be the top overall recruit for Florida if he's allowed to flip schools. The Gators currently have the No. 11-ranked class.
Brown said he is expecting a response from Oregon regarding the request on Thursday.
"I think towards the end of the process, I think some things that initially he thought may not have mattered started to weigh on his mind," his high school coach, Jayson Roberts, told Baker. "You're going to be three time zones away. If something like this happens, where there's a sick family member or a family member gets in an accident, it's not going to be like jumping in a car and driving 2-3 hours to come see him. It's going to be a process."
If Wilson is permitted to flip, Oregon will still have a strong class of incoming receivers, highlighted by 5-star Dakorien Moore and 4-star Cooper Perry.
