The Dallas Cowboys could potentially reach the playoffs if they win out and the Washington Commanders lose out over the final three weeks.

That would entail Washington losing to the visiting Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday afternoon, but don't expect Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons to be wearing green.

Jon Machota of The Athletic relayed Parsons' remarks to reporters Thursday.

Parsons will be preoccupied as is with getting ready for the Cowboys' Sunday Night Football matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, so he won't have much of a chance to root for Philadelphia regardless.

However, it is in Parsons' best interest for the Eagles to win. Simply put, Dallas won't make the playoffs if Washington wins one of its final three games. The Cowboys could take care of their own business on Jan. 5 when they host Washington in the final week of the season, but that game could very well be irrelevant by then.

Dallas also has competition in the NFC for the final wild card spot, namely the 8-6 Seattle Seahawks, the 7-7 Atlanta Falcons and the 7-7 Arizona Cardinals at the moment. So there's a lot that needs to happen for the Cowboys to sneak in.

On the other hand, it is understandable that Parsons wouldn't want to root for an NFC East rival, especially the hated Eagles, who crushed Dallas 34-6 earlier this year. Philadelphia will also host the Cowboys in Week 17.

Ultimately, Parsons and the Cowboys have their own business to take care of Sunday evening against the NFC South-leading Bucs. Their playoff hopes could be dashed by then, but if not, then it's win-or-die for Dallas as the team hopes for a fourth straight postseason berth.
