Week 16 NFL Playoff Picture: AFC, NFC Standings, Bracket Scenarios and Odds

Zach Buckley

The NFL playoff picture could gain plenty of clarity during Week 16.

It'll take a lot longer for the championship race to get sorted out.

While the immediate focus is on the clinching scenarios at play, there's always some long-term thoughts about the Super Bowl. So, after updating the league standings and highlighting those potential clinchers, we'll lay out the latest Super Bowl odds from DraftKings Sportsbook.

AFC Standings, Scenarios

Division Leaders

1. Kansas City Chiefs (13-1, clinched AFC West)

2. Buffalo Bills (11-3, clinched AFC East)

3. Pittsburgh Steelers (10-4, clinched playoff berth)

4. Houston Texans (9-5, clinched AFC South)

Wild-Card Race

5. Baltimore Ravens (9-5)

6. Denver Broncos (9-5)

7. Los Angeles Chargers (8-6)

8. Indianapolis Colts (6-8)

9. Miami Dolphins (6-8)

10. Cincinnati Bengals (6-8)

Something will be decided in Baltimore on Saturday when the Ravens host their AFC North rival Steelers.

A Pittsburgh win would grant Mike Tomlin's club an AFC North crown. A Baltimore win, meanwhile, would officially put the Ravens in the playoffs. Lamar Jackson's squad could also back into a playoff berth even with a loss if the Dolphins lose to or tie the San Francisco 49ers and the Colts do the same against the Titans.

The Chiefs could secure the No. 1 seed by beating the Texans on Saturday and then seeing the Bills lose to or tie the Patriots the following day. A Chiefs tie coupled with a Bills' loss would deliver the same result.

Thursday night, meanwhile, could see the Broncos punch their playoff ticket with a win over the Chargers. The Broncos could also get clinch a playoff berth with a loss if the Dolphins, Colts and Bengals all lose. The Chargers, meanwhile, get in with a win and losses or ties by the Dolphins and Colts.

Wild-Card Race

5. Minnesota Vikings (12-2, clinched playoff berth)

6. Green Bay Packers (10-4)

7. Washington Commanders (9-5)

8. Seattle Seahawks (8-6)

9. Atlanta Falcons (7-7)

10. Arizona Cardinals (7-7)

11. San Francisco 49ers (6-8)

12. Dallas Cowboys (6-8)

13. New Orleans Saints (5-9)

In case the number of teams still mathematically in contention didn't tip you off, there's plenty to sort out in the NFC. Some could be decided this weekend, but a lot of these races are too close to call.

The Eagles have a direct path to the NFC East crown if they deliver a road win or tie against the Commanders. Washington, meanwhile, could claim its playoff spot by beating Philadelphia and having the Atlanta Falcons lose to or tie the Giants and either the Rams doing the same against the Jets or the Seahawks losing to or tying the Vikings.

The Packers could punch their own playoff ticket by defeating or tying the Saints on Monday night. Green Bay could get in even before suiting up, though, as the Packers would clinch a playoff berth if the Falcons and either the Rams or the Seahawks lose or tie.
