NFL News: Titans Reportedly Plan to 'Make a Switch' at QB amid Will Levis' Struggles

Scott Polacek

The Tennessee Titans are 3-11 and playing out the string on a lost season, and head coach Brian Callahan is reportedly going to make a quarterback change for Sunday's game against the Indianapolis Colts.

ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported Tuesday that Tennessee is "planning to make a switch" given Will Levis' recent struggles. Fowler called Mason Rudolph the "logical candidate to step in" as the new starter.

Things have simply not gone as planned for Levis this season.

The 2023 second-round pick is 2-9 as a starter this season with 12 touchdown passes to 12 interceptions. Four of those interceptions were returned for touchdowns, including one in Sunday's loss against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Cincinnati went up 31-14 with the pick-six, and Callahan benched Levis for Rudolph for the rest of the game.

While some of his production was in garbage time, Rudolph still looked like the better option and went 21-of-26 for 209 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. Levis was 8-of-12 for 89 yards, zero touchdowns and three interceptions.

The Kentucky product was also just 3-6 as a starter during his rookie season in 2023, and it is fair to wonder what the long-term answer is at quarterback for the Titans. Levis hasn't exactly looked like the franchise cornerstone the team was hoping for when it drafted him, and Rudolph has been a backup for much of his career.

Rudolph is 1-2 as a starter this year with six touchdown passes to five interceptions even after his solid showing against the Bengals.

Tennessee is in line to finish with a favorable draft pick with a 3-11 record and may look to select a new quarterback in April. For now, it seems like Rudolph will be under center as the team puts the finishing touches on a forgettable 2024 campaign.
