Diontae Johnson and De'Vondre Campbell's time with their respective teams seems to be nearing an end.
Johnson and the Baltimore Ravens have "mutually agreed" to excuse the wide receiver from team activities following a one-game suspension that stemmed from him refusing to play. Johnson, who was traded to Baltimore from the Carolina Panthers earlier this season, has played just four games for his new team, logging one reception for six yards.
The San Francisco 49ers suspended Campbell for three games after the linebacker refused to enter Thursday's matchup against the Los Angeles Rams. The suspension will likely end Campbell's season and perhaps his time in San Francisco.
With the drama surrounding Johnson and Campbell, here's a handful of teams that might be interested in them this offseason.
Diontae Johnson
Johnson will be a free agent this offseason, giving him free rein to find a new team after a failed half-season with the Ravens.
Though the 2024 season didn't show it, the 28-year-old is capable of putting up solid numbers. Last season, he hauled in 51 receptions for 717 yards and five touchdowns. His best season came with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2021 when he had 1,161 receiving yards and eight touchdowns on 107 receptions.
His actions this season might steer some teams away, but plenty of squads could use a receiver like Johnson.
Kansas City Chiefs
The Kansas City Chiefs are back-to-back champions and look capable of winning another this year, but they still could use help in the wide receiver room.
The Chiefs got some help midseason when they traded for DeAndre Hopkins, but he'll be a free agent this offseason and could opt to go somewhere else. Beyond Hopkins, Kansas City's best options are an aging Travis Kelce and rookie receiver Xavier Worthy.
Rashee Rice, who was Patrick Mahomes' No. 1 option earlier this year, is out for the season.
Adding Johnson this offseason would give Mahomes another solid target with plenty of experience as the Chiefs try to return to an elite offense.
Buffalo Bills
Like the Cheifs, the Bills made a trade deadline move to acquire wide receiver Amari Cooper from the Cleveland Browns.
While Cooper could help their Super Bowl chances this season, he can walk in free agency afterward.
The Bills have a solid rookie in Keon Coleman but might want to consider adding some experience by signing Johnson.
Dallas Cowboys
While a wide receiver might not be at the top of the priority list for the Cowboys this offseason, they should think about giving Johnson a call.
While Dallas has one of the best wide receivers in the league, they lack a true WR2 and could get that in Johnson.
The Cowboys have a few sizeable financial commitments with Dak Prescott and Lamb getting paid over the offseason and the end of Micah Parsons' contract nearing, and Johnson could be a relatively affordable option.
De'Vondre Campbell
Campbell, who was playing on a one-year, $5 million contract this season, likely hurt his chances of getting a major payday this offseason by refusing to come into Thursday's game, but he'll still likely get picked up by a team that is linebacker-needy.
The nine-year veteran has 79 tackles, two tackles for loss and two passes defended in 13 games this season.
He's not on the same level that he was in 2021 when he had 146 tackles, two sacks, two forced fumbles and two interceptions on his way to an All-Pro team, but he's still a more than reliable defender.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Buccaneers have two linebackers set to hit free agency in Lavonte David and K.J. Britt. While Tampa Bay could end up re-signing one or both of those players, Campbell would be a solid option if the Bucs aren't able to return both.
Seattle Seahawks
Like the Bucs, Seattle will have a gaping hole at linebacker this offseason.
Ernest Jons IV, a trade deadline acquisition, is set to be a free agent along with Tyrel Dodson. The Seahawks should prioritize signing those two, but can pivot to Campbell if they decide to join another squad.
Philadelphia Eagles
The Eagles' top linebacker Zack Baun is heading for free agency this offseason.
Given Philadelphia has rarely paid top-dollar for linebackers, it might not be able to retain Baun as he's sure to field plenty of offers.
The Eagles likely wouldn't get the same kind of production out of Campbell, but they could get him for a much cheaper rate than Baun will be going for.
