The 2024 NFL regular season is creeping closer to the finish line, and the playoff standings reflect that proximity.
Six different teams have secured their postseason tickets, and several others will feel good about their chances of doing so sooner than later.
After laying out the latest standings, we'll highlight the races to monitor in each conference.

AFC Spotlight
The Chiefs, Bills and Texans have all wrapped up their division titles and claimed one of the top-four seeds that comes with it. The Steelers could do the same next week if they're able to triumph on their trip to Baltimore.
If not, the Ravens could still manage to pry the AFC North crown away from their rivals. Baltimore thinned the gap between the teams Sunday, throttling the Giants while the Steelers came up empty against the Eagles.
Kansas City holds a two-game edge on Buffalo for the No. 1 seed, but that advantage might be a bit more tenuous than it sounds. The Bills claimed the head-to-head tiebreaker by knocking off the Chiefs in Week 11, and their quarterback, Josh Allen, is working to hold his lead in the MVP race while Patrick Mahomes of Kansas City is uncertain to suit up next week after suffering a right ankle injury.
The Broncos are sitting pretty after stretching their winning streak to four games and seeing both Indianapolis and Miami slip up on Sunday. The Chargers hold a fairly comfortable edge on that pair (and Cincinnati), too, but things won't feel as comfortable if L.A. can't fend off Denver on Thursday night.
This won't make for a fun prediction, but it feels like the AFC's current bracket will be the same one we'll see when the regular season is finished.
NFC Spotlight
The Lions are human after all.
It took a superhuman effort from Josh Allen, but Detroit's 11-game winning streak finally snapped on Sunday, perhaps leaving the door open for Philadelphia to claim the top seed.
The Eagles, winners of 10 straight, don't have the tiebreaker since their conference record is worse, but the difference is only one game, and the Lions still have to face the Vikings in their finale.
Speaking of Minnesota, this club could still grab hold of the NFC North crown by winning out. There's even a way for Green Bay to still muscle its way into the mix as part of a wild finish, though that's less likely to materialize given the number of things that would have to break in the Packers' favor.
Outside of this group, things are technically wide open in the NFC, where only two playoff spots have been secured, no division titles have been handed out and just three teams have been eliminated from playoff contention. In reality, things feel more solidified than that.
The Buccaneers' rout of the Chargers gave Tampa a firmer grasp of the NFC South lead, and there isn't a great reason to believe Atlanta, losers of four straight, or New Orleans, 3-9 since Week 3, will launch back into the race.
It might be all eyes on the NFC West, then, as Los Angeles just pulled ahead of Seattle and controls its destiny. Should the Rams falter, though, the Seahawks are right there, and the Cardinals remain within striking distance. The 49ers are mathematically in the mix, too, but they might be too banged-up for that to matter.
Our crystal ball sees the Eagles wrestling away the top seed from the Lions, but that's it as far as changes go. There is some temptation to call for a Seahawks' emergence in the NFC West, but that's an impossible prediction to make without knowing the severity of Geno Smith's knee injury.
