The final results of the 2024 Heisman Trophy voting will produce two rarities.
Travis Hunter or Ashton Jeanty will become the first non-quarterback to capture the award since DeVonta Smith in 2020.
Additionally, no quarterbacks are expected to finish above third place in the voting.
Dillon Gabriel and Cam Ward are the other two finalists, but neither player eclipsed the seasons put together by Hunter and Jeanty.
Hunter has been the overwhelming Heisman betting favorite for the last few weeks. He should win the award, but Jeanty is expected to land some first-place votes.
Updated Heisman Odds
Odds via DraftKings Sportsbook.
Travis Hunter (-2000; bet $2,000 to win $100)
Ashton Jeanty (+800; bet $100 to win $800)
Dillon Gabriel (+25000)
Cam Ward (+50000)
1. Travis Hunter
Travis Hunter should claim the Heisman on Saturday night.
Colorado's two-way star has been the clear favorite on the betting lines for the last few weeks as it became clear that the honor was down to himself and Jeanty.
If he wins, Hunter can become the first wide receiver to take home the Heisman since DeVonta Smith in 2020. He would also become the first cornerback to claim the award since Charles Woodson in 1997.
Hunter has the chance to do the double of Heisman winner and No. 1 overall draft pick as well since the quarterback class is not great compared to last season's NFL arrivals.
It won't be an unanimous win, though, as Jeanty's season on the ground stood out as well, but the Boise State running back shouldn't have enough votes to take the award away from the best individual talent in college football.
2. Ashton Jeanty
Jeanty turned in one of the best seasons of any running back in college football history.
The Boise State star will pick up some first-place votes for his incredible campaign that helped the Broncos reach the College Football Playoff.
Jeanty is trying to become the first running back since Derrick Henry to win the Heisman since 2015.
If he pulls off the upset over Hunter, it would be a rare win for a Group of Five program.
The Heisman typically ends up with the best players in the power conferences. For example, Alabama, Oklahoma and LSU have had multiple Heisman winners in the last decade.
3. Dillon Gabriel
A quarterback will finish no higher than third in the Heisman voting for the first time since 2015.
Nine years ago, Derrick Henry and Christian McCaffrey went one-two in the voting ahead of Deshaun Watson.
In fact, two of the last three Heisman votes that ended with non-quarterbacks at the top saw a signal-caller finish third. Colt McCoy was behind Mark Ingram and Toby Gerhart in 2009.
Dillon Gabriel had a fine season in charge of the Oregon offense, but his individual feats were not as impressive as what Hunter and Jeanty produced.
He should receive a large amount of third-place votes as the quarterback of the top-ranked team in the country, but it would be surprise if Gabriel earns more than a handful of top-two placings on ballots.
4. Cam Ward
Cam Ward would've been in much better shape to win the Heisman if the season ended on October 31.
Ward and Miami's star fizzled out in November with two losses that knocked the Hurricanes out of the College Football Playoff field.
Ward threw for 4,163 yards and 36 touchdowns, but a lot of his massive stat lines came from the first two-thirds of the season.
The Miami quarterback threw for over 350 yards four times, all of which happened before November 9. All four of his games with four or five touchdown passes also occurred before Miami's season went south.
