Pro Football Hall of Fame wide receiver Randy Moss announced on his Instagram page Friday that he has been living with cancer.

"Your boy is a cancer survivor," Moss said, before sincerely thanking members of his care team.

Moss told his followers that he underwent surgery in Charlotte, North Carolina, and returned home Friday after being in the hospital for six days. He added that he still needs to undergo "some chemo and radiation."

ESPN previously announced on Dec. 6. that Moss, an analyst on ESPN's Sunday NFL Countdown, was stepping away due to a "personal health challenge."

Five days earlier, Moss said from the Sunday NFL Countdown set that he was "battling...something internal," per Rob Maaddi of the Associated Press.

"I just ask for all the prayer warriors to put their blessing hands on me and my family through these hard times. People were talking about my eyes last week," Moss said before putting on a pair of sunglasses. "I'm battling something, man, and it's something internal, your boy is going to get through it. I got a great team of doctors and got a great family around me."

Moss was a six-time Pro Bowler and four-time All-Pro who amassed 982 catches for 15,292 yards and 156 touchdowns over 14 NFL seasons.

Moss shared more updates on the specifics, saying that doctors discovered a tumor "in the bowel duct right between the pancreas and the liver." The 47-year-old went to the doctor after initially discovering a discoloration of his urine. He initially had a procedure done on Thanksgiving to put a stent in his liver before going back to the hospital to have the tumor removed via a Whipple procedure.

Moss once starred for the Minnesota Vikings, playing there from 1998-2004 and earning three All-Pro team honors along the way.

The Vikings sent their best after Moss made the news official, as did the New England Patriots, who he played for from 2007 until he was traded back to Minnesota in 2010.

Moss made clear that he plans to get back on TV and rejoin the ESPN Sunday NFL Countdown team.

For now, Moss is obviously going through a tremendous ordeal, although he's thankfully cleared a major hurdle after his tumor was removed. But he's still using his platform to spread cancer awareness and implore people to get regular bloodwork and testing done.
