WWE and AEW Predictions For the Rest of 2024

Donald Wood

With just two weeks left in 2024, wrestling fans have already started turning their attention to 2025 and the packed schedule of marquee events coming up for All Elite Wrestling and WWE.

Not so fast.

Both companies are setting the stage for next year, but they have shows to fill and anticipation to build. In AEW, the Worlds End show is on December 28, and WWE is preparing for a jump to Netflix on January 6.

While there may not be much time left on the clock for 2024, Tony Khan and Triple H will have a few tricks left up their sleeve before the end of the year.

World's End Gives AEW Momentum

A small minority of fans have recently voiced their displeasure at how AEW president Tony Khan has handled his company over the last year, but it's time for the promotion to buck the trend and start 2025 on the right foot with a well-executed World's End.

Khan and AEW shine brightest under the bright pay-per-view lights.

Following the stellar showing by the entire company at the three-part Winter is Coming events, World's End will boast the two 2024 Continental Classic League Finals, as well as the Championship Final for the continental title.

Add in the marquee bout between MJF and Adam Cole for the Dynamite Diamond Ring and the four-way world title match between Jon Moxley, Orange Cassidy, "Hangman" Adam Page and Jay White, and the momentum created on December 28 is just what AEW needs.

The Rock Returns to Tease Netflix Appearance

One of the most significant changes coming for WWE in 2025 is Raw's jump to Netflix on January 6. With WrestleVotes reporting The Rock is scheduled to appear on the show, excitement for the event is growing.

One way to ensure everyone tunes into the Netflix debut would be to have The Final Boss make a shock appearance on both Raw and SmackDown in the coming weeks and promote his appearance.

Showing up randomly during the Netflix debut would be memorable, but the company is likely looking to make a strong first impression, so booking Rock over the next two weeks to tease a big announcement or segment on the premiere would get the word out.

He is a mainstream star who could generate cross-industry buzz for the Netflix debut, but the company needs to make as many people aware as possible. The easiest way to do that is by letting The Rock make headlines in a WWE ring before the end of 2024.

Kazuchika Okada Wins 2024 Continental Classic

One of AEW's biggest signings was former New Japan Pro-Wrestling world champion Kazuchika Okada, but he hasn't been given the storylines needed to take advantage of his talent. That all ends when he wins the 2024 Continental Classic.

The 37-year-old is poised to finish second in the Blue League, setting him up for a battle against the winner of the Gold League, likely Will Ospreay, Ricochet or Claudio Castagnoli. Regardless of who he faces during the league finals, he should advance to the championship match.

With the AEW Continental Championship on the line in the tournament and Okada being the defending champion, a run to the finals is a no-brainer, but a marquee victory in the tournament would be the start the Japanese star needs for 2025.

If I was booking the tournament, Okada would beat Castagnoli, and Ospreay would beat Kyle Fletcher in the league finals. Then, in the championship match, the defending titleholder should retain his gold in an all-time battle against Ospreay.

With matches of superior quality, World's End is just the kind of event AEW needs at the moment.
