After being on the market for over a decade, Michael Jordan's mansion in Highland Park, Illinois has finally sold, but at a substantially lower price than initially expected.
Per Alex Fisher of NBC Chicago, the final price of Jordan's suburban estate was $9.5 million at the Dec. 10 closing date. Katherine Malkin of Compass Realty confirmed to Fisher that the sale officially closed after it previously went under contract in September.
The property was originally placed on the market in 2012 and had a listing price of $29 million. In 2015, the price was cut to $14.855 million in 2015 and remained that way until its sale this week, as the digits in that figure added up to 23, Jordan's iconic jersey number.
Jordan bought the land in 1991 and moved into the 32,000-square-foot mansion in 1994. According to the listing, the home has nine bedrooms and 19 bathrooms as well as a bevy of amenities.
"NBA Superstar Michael Jordan's seven-acre estate is as legendary as His Airness himself," the listing read. "The 56,000 square foot property -- equipped with every conceivable luxury amenity -- is a physical monument to his tireless dedication and hard work. The custom-designed property includes a regulation-sized basketball gymnasium, circular infinity pool, putting green, tennis court, and cigar room, each with Jordan's signature touch."
The sale of Jordan's mansion comes a year after he sold his luxury Chicago condo for $6.82 million.
