Jimmy Butler Rumors: Heat Star Open to Suns Trade amid Warriors, Mavs, Rockets Buzz

Paul Kasabian

Miami Heat star Jimmy Butler is now open to a trade to the Phoenix Suns, who join the Dallas Mavericks, Golden State Warriors and Houston Rockets as teams the six-time All-Star is interested in playing for as his current squad listens to offers.

ESPN's Shams Charania reported the latest, citing remarks Butler's agent, Bernie Lee, had allegedly made in "league circles."

Lee was quick to call out Charania following his latest report involving Butler:

The 35-year-old Butler has a $52.4 million player option in 2025-26 that he can decline to enter free agency next offseason. For now, he's averaging 19.0 points on 55.7 percent shooting, 5.4 rebounds and 4.8 assists in 17 starts.

Charania previously reported Tuesday on the Heat potentially moving Butler (and Butler's potential interest in leaving for the right destination).

"The Heat are open to listening to offers for Butler and making a deal if the proposal is right, league sources told ESPN, and Butler's agent, Bernie Lee, has indicated in league circles that Butler is open to destinations such as two of the Texas teams (Houston Rockets and Dallas Mavericks) and the Golden State Warriors."

Butler is in his sixth season with the Heat after signing in Miami as a free agent in 2019. He undoubtedly has been a major success in Miami, helping lead the team to a pair of Eastern Conference titles along the way.

The Heat still remain competitive at 12-10, currently good enough for fifth place in the Eastern Conference. It's certainly possible that the Heat ride this current core out for one more run, even though the defending NBA champion Boston Celtics and the 21-4 Cleveland Cavaliers look like the East's clear frontrunners right now.

Or they can trade Butler and hope to get a good return in hopes of avoiding losing him for nothing next summer should he decline his player option.

However, Lee has made it abundantly clear that "all this is fabricated" regarding the reports. So the money here would be on Butler remaining with Miami as the team looks to continue its recent hot stretch.

Their three-game winning streak most recently features a 122-113 home win against the Cavs, who currently sport the league's best win-loss record. Confidence should undoubtedly be high in Miami with Butler leading the way.

The Toronto Raptors are up next on Thursday evening at home.
