The NBA Cup quarterfinals get underway on Tuesday in Milwaukee and Oklahoma City.
The Milwaukee Bucks have an easy matchup, at least on paper, against the Orlando Magic, which are without Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner.
Milwaukee should be able to overpower the Magic with their multi-pronged offensive attack to reach the NBA Cup semifinals in Las Vegas.
Tuesday's Western Conference battle between the Dallas Mavericks and Oklahoma City Thunder is expected to be far more competitive.
Dallas and OKC played a tight game the first time they met this season, and both teams are playing some incredible basketball at the moment.
Can Orlando Compete with Milwaukee Despite Injuries?
Orlando rode Franz Wagner's incredible individual form into the NBA Cup quarterfinals, but now it is without Wagner and Paolo Banchero for Tuesday's matchup with Milwaukee.
Wagner was diagnosed with a torn oblique muscle after Friday's game in Philadelphia. The Magic won their first game without Wagner against Phoenix on Sunday.
However, taking on Giannis Antetokounmpo and a deep Bucks team is a different type of task for the Magic.
Jalen Suggs and Goga Bitadze took over the scoring in Sunday's win, but Bitadze could be shut down in the paint by the combination of Giannis, Brook Lopez and Bobby Portis.
Milwaukee's roster got deeper in the last week with the return of Khris Middleton to a starting lineup that already has Giannis and Damian Lillard in it.
The Bucks have far more star power compared to the Magic, and they might run Orlando off the floor with their scoring.
Milwaukee scored at least 118 points in six of its last eight victories dating back to November 18. Orlando's 115-point showing against Phoenix on Sunday was the first time in five games it got over the 110-point mark.
Is Dallas-OKC An Early Western Conference Finals Preview?
Dallas and Oklahoma City are two of the top four teams in the Western Conference standings at the moment.
OKC is at the top at 18-5, while Dallas is only 2.5 games back in fourth place.
Dallas is the reigning Western Conference champion and OKC is flying high even without Chet Holmgren on the floor.
Tuesday's clash in OKC could be an early Western Conference Finals preview, and it is shaping up to be the much better quarterfinal because neither team is dealing with significant injuries, outside of Holmgren's long-term absence.
Dallas won the first meeting between the two sides on November 17 by a 121-119 score. The Mavs won that game without Luka Dončić, who had 37, 31 and 26 points in his three NBA Cup group-stage games.
Dončić and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander should be involved in a scoring duel, but don't count out the supporting pieces from playing big roles as well.
Isaiah Hartenstein increased OKC's paint presence, and Jalen Williams has gotten better as a do-it-all-type player for the Thunder.
Dallas improved its shooting depth with Klay Thompson, and P.J. Washington could be a vital piece on Tuesday if the Mavs' centers struggle with Hartenstein down low.
A handful of other Western Conference teams will have a say in who makes the conference finals in the spring, but at the moment, Dallas and OKC seem like two of the best built squads to play in that series.
