With Saturday Night's Main Event just around the corner, WWE Raw delivered a wild show on December 9 from the Intrust Arena in Wichita, Kansas.
Rhea Ripley finally got her hands on Raquel Rodriguez in an Anything Goes match, winning with a Riptide through a table.
The World Heavyweight Championship match for SNME was changed to a Triple Threat as Damian Priest stepped up to both Gunther and Finn Bálor.
Drew McIntyre explained why he returned to WWE and needed to make Sami Zayn and Jey Uso pay for aligning again with Roman Reigns.
Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods were shunned by the locker room and booed by all in attendance after last week's walkout on Big E.
This was a strong go-home show to set the stage for Saturday Night's Main Event on NBC.
Major Mistake for Rhea Ripley to Beat Raquel Rodriguez
Rhea Ripley may be the top star in WWE, but she does not need to be invincible. Raquel Rodriguez was supposed to be the woman who had her number.
Instead, the Australian again overcame the odds, toppling Liv Morgan's shield to likely set the stage for a rematch after Saturday Night's Main Event.
Iyo Sky gets the first crack at Morgan and would be a great women's world champion, but that does not seem to be in the cards.
All signs point to Ripley, who is about ready to beat Morgan and take over the division again.
This win more or less ended any suspense for the near future in this rivalry. Ripley defeating Rodriguez makes clear she is still the top star in WWE.
Mami already got the deciding fall in WarGames, and she has defeated Rodriguez despite Morgan's best attempt to interfere.
Is anyone going to ever match up to Ripley atop the Raw women's division?
WWE Makes Right Call With World Heavyweight Match Change For SNME
Gunther vs. Finn Bálor was never going to be the showstopper WWE wanted it to be.
While both are talented, a quick turnaround for the match and a bigger feud lingering for The Prince made this World Heavyweight Championship contest a mere filler defense for The Ring General.
However, adding in Damian Priest gives weight to the clear priority angle for WWE. A Triple Threat make a predictable match suddenly more exciting.
Priest and Bálor will get a chance to show out and maybe even be forced to work together at times. This can help further their feud toward a final singles contest in the new year.
Meanwhile, Gunther can make a definitive statement at the expense of both men to allow him to look forward toward fresh challengers.
New Day Heel Turn is a Rousing Success
Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods continue to deliver week after week, and the full picture for the current New Day angle has been revealed.
These two have become the most hated heels in all of WWE, garnering heat in the Intrust Arena to rival prime Dominik Mysterio.
Heels often struggle to keep strong heat. Often, the "cool" bad guys will start getting cheers, even against top good guys.
However, a foolproof strategy is to turn a heel through heinous betrayal. And Kingston and Woods completely dismissed their best friend, Big E, last week.
That kind of disdain makes even the most jaded fans hate this version of The New Day.
With all this new heat, Kingston and Woods can carry their success to regaining tag team gold and starting a new reign of terror in the division.
Drew McIntyre vs. Sami Zayn Will Steal the Show at SNME
Drew McIntyre's return last week was a welcome surprise that has set the stage for an exciting last-minute addition to the Saturday Night's Main Event card.
McIntyre vs. Sami Zayn is a match that has always worked, but it has never been delivered at this level.
The two men will fight under the bright lights at the weekend with true hatred at the level of what The Scottish Warrior threw at CM Punk.
Hopefully, this is just the beginning of the rivalry, but it's certainly a match with show-stealing upside.
Cody Rhodes vs. Kevin Owens will be good, but it has so much more to live up to based on months of build.
Everything else on Saturday night's card lacks the same level of obvious chemistry and fresh heat.
Zayn and McIntyre are working at the best pace of their careers, and they will collide with the hope to deliver a career-defining performance at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Uniondale, New York.
