B/R's Week 15 PPR Fantasy Football Player Rankings

Gary Davenport

It's Week 15 of the 2024 fantasy football season, and that means a special point in the season has arrived in most leagues: It's the playoffs.

From here out, it's one-and-done for the fantasy managers still alive. Win your matchup, and you move on to the next round. Lose, and that's that; no more fantasy football until 2025.

Those increased stakes ratchet up the pressure on fantasy managers. Every lineup decision is critical. Every player started (or benched) can be the difference between the thrill of victory or the agony of defeat.

So, fantasy managers need every bit of help they can get to squeeze every possible point out of their starting lineups. And this column is a fantasy matchup mega-juicer: position-by-position PPR rankings, matchups to exploit and avoid, and a look at the top 100 overall players for Week 15.

Now it's just a matter of hoping that players do more than diddly-poo. Man, Jim Mora is a treasure.

Quarterbacks

Josh Allen Harry How/Getty Images

Josh Allen of the Buffalo Bills wasn't an inexpensive prospect in fantasy drafts last summer—as often as not he was the first quarterback selected.

Sunday in Los Angeles, the two-time Pro Bowler made that look like a wise investment.

Although it came in a loss to the Rams, Allen had himself a day in Week 14. In addition to completing 22 of 37 passes for 342 yards and three scores, he also carried the ball 10 times for 82 yards and three more scores.

It was the first time in the Super Bowl era that a quarterback threw for three touchdowns and ran for three touchdowns in the same game.

Rams head coach Sean McVay was left impressed.

"Josh Allen is an alien," McVay told reporters. "Some of the stuff that he can do and the things that he can create, we knew he was capable of that. He's shown that. That's why he's as well-respected and well-regarded in this league as he is."

The 50-plus fantasy points Allen amassed either impressed or depressed plenty of fantasy managers. It all depends which side of the outburst they were on.

Good Matchups

Justin Herbert, Los Angeles Chargers (vs. TB) [DraftKings DFS Value: $5,900]

Without Ladd McConkey last week, Herbert's fantasy production was modest against the Kansas City Chiefs. But there's a good chance the Chargers' No. 1 wide receiver will return in Week 15, and the Buccaneers have allowed the most fantasy points in the NFC to quarterbacks this season.

Bo Nix, Denver Broncos (vs. IND) [DraftKings DFS Value: $6,300]

Nix has quietly become a legitimate low-end fantasy QB1 for managers. He's eighth in fantasy points at the position after 14 weeks. Sunday, he faces an Indianapolis Colts defense that ranks 26th in the NFL in pass defense this season.

Bad Matchups

Jared Goff, Detroit Lions (vs. BUF) [DraftKings DFS Value: $6,500]

The Bills can be thrown on—Matthew Stafford of the Rams amassed 320 yards and two scores against them last week. But the matchup is still a tough one. Even after that game, Buffalo remains a top-10 pass defense giving up less than 210 yards a game through the air.

Jalen Hurts, Philadelphia Eagles (vs. PIT) [DraftKings DFS Value: $8,000]

Hurts is nearly impossible for fantasy managers to sit. But he hasn't thrown for 200 yards in a game in almost a month, and the Eagles now host a Pittsburgh Steelers team surrendering the fewest fantasy points to quarterbacks in 2024.

Sleeper

Tommy Devito, New York Giants (vs. BAL) [DraftKings DFS Value: $4,400]

Trotting out Devito in a playoff game is brave, but he's expected to draw the start this week for the Giants this week against the NFL's worst pass defense. The Giants will be playing from behind, and the Ravens have allowed the seventh-most fantasy points to quarterbacks.

Running Backs

Saquon Barkley Mitchell Leff/Getty Images

In 1984, Eric Dickerson of the Los Angeles Rams set the single-season record for rushing yards with 2,105. Barry Sanders of the Detroit Lions came within about 50 yards of that mark in 1997. Jamal Lewis of the Baltimore Ravens came even closer in 2003. And in his MVP season of 2012, Adrian Peterson of the Minnesota Vikings fell eight yards shy of the mark.

Now, Saquon Barkley of the Philadelphia Eagles is taking his run at football immortality.

After gaining 124 yards on 20 carries in Sunday's win over the Carolina Panthers, he has an NFL-leading 1,623 yards on the ground. At his current pace of 124.8 rushing yards per game, he will finish the season with 2,127 yards.

Barkley set a new Eagles franchise record this past week, and while speaking with reporters he was quick to credit Philly's excellent offensive line:

"I think it's pretty cool, the most important thing was getting a win, and we got the win. Being a fan of Shady [LeSean McCoy] growing up and seeing the spectacular things he was able to do with the ball in his hands and to be able to mentioned with him definitely means a lot. Gotta give credit to the guys up front. They've made my job a lot easier so far this year. Hopefully, it will continue."

Fantasy managers are hoping the same thing.

Good Matchups

Rico Dowdle, Dallas Cowboys (at CAR) [DraftKings DFS Value: $6,100]

Dowdle has been a rare bright spot for the Cowboys this season, playing well since being handed the keys to the Dallas ground game. The Carolina run defense, on the other hand, has not played well. The Panthers have surrendered a whopping 170.1 yards per game on the ground this season.

David Montgomery, Detroit Lions (vs. BUF) [DraftKings DFS Value: $7,000]

At their current pace, Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs will become the first pair of 1,000-yard backs on the same team since Jonathan Stewart and DeAngelo Williams of the Carolina Panthers in 2009. The Bills have surrendered the third-most PPR points to running backs this season.

Bad Matchups

James Cook, Buffalo (at DET) [DraftKings DFS Value: $6,800]

Cook has been rock-solid for fantasy managers this season and is a top-15 fantasy running back in terms of PPR points per game. But the Lions have not been an easy team to run the ball on. Detroit has given up 93.9 yards per game on the ground, fifth-fewest in the league.

Najee Harris, Pittsburgh (at PHI) [DraftKings DFS Value: $5,900]

Harris managed just 53 rushing yards in last week's win over the Cleveland Browns, although he did find the end zone. Now he draws a Philly run defense surrendering just 105.8 rushing yards per game and the fifth-fewest PPR points to running backs this season.

Sleeper

Isaiah Davis, New York Jets (at JAX) [DraftKings DFS Value: $5,000]

With Breece Hall sidelined by a knee injury, Davis drew 13 total touches last week against the Dolphins, racking up 67 total yards and finding the end zone. With New York eliminated from postseason contention, there's no reason to rush Hall back, and the Jags have allowed more PPR points to running backs than any team in the AFC.

Wide Receivers

Puka Nacua Harry How/Getty Images

Fantasy managers who drafted Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua had to be patient. Thanks to a knee injury he aggravated in the season opener, he missed over a month before finally playing in earnest in late October.

However, the patience of those managers has been rewarded. Since Week 8, there isn't a wideout in the NFC with more PPR points than Nacua. And Week 14 was his best outing of the season, with 12 receptions for 162 yards and a touchdown, plus another 16 yards and a score on the ground.

After the Rams stunned the Buffalo Bills at SoFi Stadium, L.A. head coach Sean McVay told reporters he's constantly impressed by what the second-year pro brings to his offense.

"He was such an igniter today," McVay said. "He's so physically and mentally tough. Love him. 'Igniter' is one of the biggest compliments I can give somebody. You elevate everybody around you, you bring energy to this football team, and he certainly did that today."

Fantasy managers love Nacua too, especially when he tops 40 PPR points in a late-season game.

Good Matchups

Amari Cooper, Buffalo Bills (at DET) [DraftKings DFS Value: $5,300]

Cooper is coming off his best game for the Bills, catching six of a whopping 14 targets for 95 yards last week against the Rams. Both he and Khalil Shakir are solid fantasy plays against a Lions defense much more susceptible to the pass than the run.

Terry McLaurin, Washington Commanders (at NO) [DraftKings DFS Value: $7,200]

McLaurin is enjoying the best season of his NFL career. His nine touchdown catches this season match his total from 2022 and 2023 combined. Coming out of the bye, he will take on a New Orleans Saints team allowing the seventh-most PPR points to wide receivers this season.

Bad Matchups

Jordan Addison, Minnesota Vikings (vs. CHI) [DraftKings DFS Value: $5,900]

Addison erupted last week, catching eight passes for 133 yards and three scores. That gonzo stat line won't be easy to back up against the Bears, though, as no team in the league has given up fewer PPR points to wideouts in 2024.

Brian Thomas Jr., Jacksonville Jaguars (vs. NYJ) [DraftKings DFS Value: $5,800]

Thomas has had his moments as a rookie, but there are multiple factors working against him in Week 15. The Jets are last in the AFC in PPR points surrendered to wide receivers, and having Mac Jones at quarterback doesn't help matters.

Sleeper

Allen Lazard, New York Jets (at JAX) {DraftKings DFS Value: $4,300]

Lazard's return from injured reserve last week was quiet, with just one catch for 18 yards. But despite his extended absence, he is still tied for the team lead in touchdown catches with five, and the Jaguars have been atrocious in pass defense most of this season.

Tight Ends

Kyle Pitts David Berding/Getty Images

There was a time not so long ago when Atlanta Falcons tight end Kyle Pitts appeared to be a sure-fire star in the making. He was drafted fourth overall in 2021—the earliest a TE has ever been drafted. As a rookie, he surpassed 1,000 receiving yards. The future appeared bright.

Now, all that surrounds the 24-year-old is darkness.

Pitts at least got six targets in last week's loss to the Minnesota Vikings, but he did nothing with them, with just one catch for 14 yards. Over the past three weeks, he has two catches for 23 yards in total. Since Week 9, he is 41st in PPR points among tight ends.

Granted, it's not all on Pitts. Kirk Cousins has been terrible of late, and as Atlanta head coach Raheem Morris told reporters recently, the team needs to a better job of scheming Pitts open.

"We all got to do a better job of getting him the ball," Morris said. "He has to do a better job of being the best version of himself every time he comes up."

But the why really doesn't matter to fantasy managers. All that does is the fact that he can't be started with even an iota of confidence in the fantasy postseason.

Good Matchups

Jake Ferguson, Dallas Cowboys (at Carolina) [DraftKings DFS Value: $3,800]

Ferguson made his return to action last week after missing time with a concussion. He didn't make a lot of noise against the Bengals, but that should change against a Carolina defense leading the NFC in PPR points allowed to tight ends this season.

David Njoku, Cleveland Browns (vs. KC) [DraftKings DFS Value: $5,200]

To the delight of fantasy managers everywhere, the Browns are sticking with Jameis Winston at quarterback—at least in Week 15. That should mean good things for Njoku in one of the best fantasy matchups for tight ends this year.

Bad Matchups

Mark Andrews, Baltimore Ravens (at NYG) [DraftKings DFS Value: $4,100]

Andrews rebounded nicely from a dismal start to the season and currently ranks seventh in PPR points among tight ends. This week brings a tough matchup, though. Defending tight ends is about the only thing the Giants have done well this season.

Jonnu Smith, Miami Dolphins (at HOU) [DraftKings DFS Value: $5,400]

Smith didn't have a catch until overtime last week, although he had three and a score in extra time. This week, the 2024 breakout star draws another difficult matchup. The Texans have surrendered the fourth-fewest PPR points to tight ends this year.

Sleeper

Tyler Conklin, New York Jets (at JAX) [DraftKings DFS Value: $2,800]

Conlin has been something of a forgotten man in the Jets' struggling offense. But if ever there was a get-right spot for him, it's against the Jaguars—Jacksonville has given up the seventh-most PPR points to tight ends so far this season.

Kickers and Team Defenses

Jonathan Greenard Joseph Weiser/Icon Sportswire via Getty Images

With the fantasy playoffs here, every lineup decision is all the more important. Every player inserted into the starting lineup can be the difference between victory and advancing and losing and calling it a season.

That means that even positions many fantasy managers give little thought to in-season can be vitally important, positions such as kicker and team defense.

For the season, the Minnesota Vikings have a narrow lead as the top defense. It's a squad that demonstrates the difference between great NFL defenses and good fantasy ones. Not that they aren't decent defensively—the team is sixth in scoring defense and second against the run. But the Vikings have struggled against the pass and are 29th in the NFL.

Where they have truly shined for fantasy managers is the big plays that so often lead to fantasy points. Only three teams have more sacks than Minnesota's 40, and the Vikings' 27 takeaways lead the NFC.

Add it all together, and you have fantasy's No. 1 defense, although the Denver Broncos are hot on their heels.

Good Matchups

Younghoe Koo, Atlanta Falcons (at LV)

The Falcons offense has been struggling badly of late, and as a result, Koo has dropped to 12th in points at his position for the season. But no team has surrendered more fantasy points to kickers this season with almost 10 per game.

Kansas City Chiefs Defense (at CLE) [DraftKings DFS Value: $3,700]

The Chiefs haven't been an especially productive fantasy defense this season, but the Browns have a tendency to make opposing defenses look good. Cleveland ranks toward the top of the league in sacks allowed, giveaways and fantasy points allowed to defenses in 2024.

Bad Matchups

Jake Elliott, Philadelphia Eagles (vs. PIT)

The Eagles have been a potent offense this year. Perhaps too much so. Elliott ranks outside the top-15 kickers for the season. Now he draws an opponent in the Pittsburgh Steelers surrendering the fewest fantasy points to kickers in 2024.

Pittsburgh Steelers Defense (at PHI) [DraftKings DFS Value: $2,800]

The Steelers have been an excellent fantasy defense this season and are third in points at the position. But the Eagles unsurprisingly have been a bad matchup for defenses, surrendering the seventh-fewest fantasy points to the position.

Sleeper

New York Jets Defense (at JAX) [DraftKings DFS Value: $3,000]

The Jets haven't been terrible defensively in 2024 and rank fourth in both yards allowed and against the pass. Meanwhile, the Jaguars offense is floundering with Mac Jones under center. They are 28th in total offense and 26th in the league in points per game.

Top 100 Players Overall/Flex Rankings

Bijan Robinson David Berding/Getty Images

Before we get to the top 100 players overall for PPR fantasy football leagues in Week 15 (a list that can be helpful in making flex lineup decisions) a couple of notes.

The first is that there are no quarterbacks included in this list. If your league utilizes a "superflex" spot and you have a decent QB2, he should be in that spot—QBs are generally both higher-scoring and more consistent.

Just so we're clear, Jake Haener of the New Orleans Saints is not a viable QB2.

Generally speaking, this analyst ignores his opponent's lineup. The point is to field the lineup that has the best chance at a high score. What the other manager does doesn't matter.

In the playoffs, though, that dynamic changes at least a little. It's not a bad idea to get a feel for how your Week 15 matchup looks.

Are you an underdog? Fantasy managers who are might want to consider riskier high-upside flex plays.

Are you favored? If so, safer, high-floor fantasy options may be the way to go.

At this point, every game is a one-week season. Treat it accordingly. The future can wait. Live in the now.
