Fantasy Football Week 15 Waiver Wire: Sincere McCormick and More Key Playoff Pickups

Alex Kay

The 2024 fantasy football regular season is now over and the playoffs are set to begin in Week 15. While the number of managers making waiver wire claims will drop significantly, there will still be fierce competition amongst title contenders to land the handful of serviceable free agents up for grabs.

If you are looking to gain an edge during a championship run, it's time to make moves that will not only solidify your own roster, but also to deny key talent to your rivals.

For instance, even if you have a strong core of running backs slated to start in Week 15, you will still want to give serious consideration to adding a potential breakout star in Sincere McCormick. The Las Vegas Raiders rookie will not only serve as a high-end injury insurance option, but his presence on your bench prevents an RB-needy foe from landing a starter to deploy against you.

With that in mind, here are five of the best waiver wire options—available in at least half of all Yahoo! leagues—heading into Week 15.

QB Bryce Young, Carolina Panthers (6 Percent Rostered)

Suggested FAAB Bid: $1-3

Bryce Young has revitalized his career since re-entering the starting lineup in Week 8. Last year's No. 1 overall pick now finds himself firmly on the fantasy radar after an impressive string of performances following the Carolina Panthers' Week 11 bye.

Over the last three weeks, Young hasn't finished worse than the QB18. While his latest performance—a 13.5-point outing against a stingy Philadelphia Eagles defense—resulted in his worst finish since Week 9, there's good reason to believe he'll be right in the mix for a top-10 showing throughout each week of the fantasy postseason.

Young notably had the best fantasy performance of his career in Week 13 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The second-year signal-caller racked up 23.6 points against an opponent he'll face again during fantasy championship week and has some soft matchups leading up to that NFC South tilt.

In Week 15, Young will have a chance to show out against a Dallas Cowboys defense that has conceded a cool 20 points per game to opposing quarterbacks—the fifth-most in the league this year. It's a perfect opportunity for Young to post his second top-eight finish in three weeks and reward fantasy managers who rolled the dice on him in a must-win situation.

RB Isaiah Davis, New York Jets (11 Percent Rostered)

Suggested FAAB Bid: $10-15

After spending most of his first NFL season buried behind starter Breece Hall and backup Braelon Allen on the New York Jets' depth chart, Isaiah Davis finally saw his first significant action of 2024 in Week 14.

With Hall on the shelf, the rookie back made the most of his expanded opportunity. Davis rushed for 40 yards and a score on 10 totes and hauled in three of his six targets for 27 yards to finish as the week's RB14.

That 15.7-fantasy point performance didn't exactly come out of thin air. Davis flashed his talent the prior week when he racked up 32 yards and a touchdown on a mere seven touches, earning a respectable RB22 finish for his efforts.

While Allen did earn two more touches than Davis, he wasn't as effective in New York's overtime loss to the Miami Dolphins. Allen generated 43 yards on his 11 carries, although he boosted his fantasy output with four catches for 38 yards to earn 12.1 points and an RB21 finish in Week 14.

New York's coaching staff appears to prefer an equal timeshare between the two rookie backs in Hall's absence. Allen drew the start but his 37 offensive snaps were just one more than his counterpart logged against the 'Phins.

With nothing left to play for, it wouldn't be a total shock if Hall remains sidelined for the remainder of the campaign—even if ESPN's Adam Schefter indicated the team currently has "no plans" to shut its top RB down completely.

Davis will be a great flex play in any game that Hall is absent for. The rookie will have a glowing opportunity to set new career highs while pushing his scoring streak to three games when the Jets visit the Jacksonville Jaguars—a team that allows the second-most fantasy points to opposing running backs—in Week 15.

RB Sincere McCormick, Las Vegas Raiders (15 Percent Rostered)

Suggested FAAB Bid: $20-25

The Las Vegas Raiders will be trialing an unproven running back in the closing weeks of a lost season for the second consecutive year. Zamir White memorably exploded for over 60 fantasy points during the last month of the 2023 campaign—helping many fantasy managers cinch up a title—and Sincere McCormick could follow in his footsteps this year.

McCormick has been steadily gaining traction in Vegas' backfield during the extended absences of both Alexander Mattison and White. The undrafted rookie only earned his first offensive snaps of the season in Week 12 but quickly impressed with an efficient 33 yards on five carries.

That display resulted in McCormick earning much more playing time in Week 13. He capitalized on the uptick, rushing 12 times for 64 yards and catching a pair of passes as well.

While the Raiders suffered a blowout 28-13 defeat to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this past weekend, McCormick still proved he's Las Vegas' best running back option right now. He posted the first top-25 fantasy finish of his career by going off for 78 yards on 15 carries and hauling in two of his three targets for 11 yards.

With Mattison nursing an ankle injury, White dealing with a quad issue and Ameer Abdullah disappointing as a fill-in starter, McCormick should remain the go-to back in Sin City down the stretch. He's averaging a fantastic 5.5 yards per carry—over two more than Mattison is averaging in 2024—and represents the best chance the Raiders have at improving their league-worst ground game over the final weeks of the campaign.

Even with a tough Atlanta Falcons defense on tap in Week 15, McCormick could be a difference-maker in fantasy for managers in need of RB help. Even if the veterans previously ahead of him on the depth chart are healthy, McCormick should still earn the lion's share of rushing work as he looks to solidify his status as Vegas' long-term starter.

WR Jalen McMillan, Tampa Bay Buccaneers (14 Percent Rostered)

Suggested FAAB Bid: $5-8

Jalen McMillan has had an underwhelming rookie season, but it seems he could be on the cusp of turning things around after a breakout Week 14 performance. The third-round receiver turned in the best game of his career, catching four passes on seven targets for 59 yards and a pair of touchdowns against the Las Vegas Raiders

McMillan has flashed potential throughout his first NFL season, including catching his first—and up until Week 14 only—touchdown in the opener and drawing a hefty 15 targets between Weeks 7 and 8, but he failed to put it all together until Sunday. His 21.9 fantasy points were 11.7 more than his previous high and resulted in an WR8 finish—vastly eclipsing his previous best of WR40 in Week 1.

While McMillan's inconsistency is cause for concern, there's a good chance he builds on this performance. The Bucs have been hoping he could step up and fill Chris Godwin's role since losing the star receiver for the season back in Week 7. Tampa has also desperately needed a spark in the passing game after tight end Cade Otton came back down to earth several weeks ago.

With Tampa back in the NFC South lead and needing to finish strong to lock up a playoff berth, the team should be looking to keep McMillan hot and continue feeding down the stretch. That should result in more quality days for the first-year pass-catcher and put him firmly on the WR3/flex radar during the fantasy playoffs.

TE Jonnu Smith, Miami Dolphins (26 Percent Rostered)

Suggested FAAB Bid: $13-17

It's inexplicable that Jonnu Smith is still available in nearly three-quarters of leagues right now. The Miami Dolphins' big pass-catching tight end has been on an absolute tear over the last month, putting up massive fantasy numbers at a position largely bereft of consistency outside of the highly-rostered top options.

Smith just helped seal up a 'Phins victory over the rival New York Jets on Sunday, scoring his fourth touchdown in as many games. His 13.4 points and TE7 finish were Smith's worst since Week 10, metrics that prove just how hot the veteran has been.

The eight-year veteran has become a target hog in Miami's aerial attack. Even after seeing a relatively modest four looks against Gang Green, his target count still reached 34 over the past four games.

That type of volume, coupled with his scoring output and production—especially in PPR leagues, as Smith has tallied up a hefty 28 catches since the start of Week 11—makes him a must-add for any manager who has been streaming the position and wants a steady option for the postseason.

Smith has been fantasy's TE1 over the last month—outscoring even No. 2 Brock Bowers by nine points in that span—and will continue to be a weekly top-five option throughout the fantasy playoffs. He's a great bet to find more paydirt when Miami visits the Houston Texans, a team that has allowed a league-high 26 passing touchdowns this year, in Week 15.
