NFL Playoff Picture 2024: Week 15 Wild-Card Bracket Odds and Super Bowl Standings

Joe Tansey

The Kansas City Chiefs' path to a third straight Super Bowl title got a bit easier after Week 14.

Kansas City took a two-game advantage over the Buffalo Bills in the race for the AFC's No. 1 seed.

The Chiefs look destined to play just two games to reach the Super Bowl, while the Bills are stuck in the No. 2, have to participate in an extra postseason contest and will likely have to head to Kansas City.

Over in the NFC, the Detroit Lions are in a safe spot in the race for the No. 1 seed. They are one game ahead of the Philadelphia Eagles and tiebreakers are in their favor.

The wild-card races in each conference could end up being more competitive, especially if the Los Angeles Rams and Miami Dolphins keep winning.

7. Denver (8-5)

8. Indianapolis (6-7)

9. Miami (6-7)

10. Cincinnati (4-8)

Kansas City resides in a tremendous spot to claim home-field advantage in the AFC.

The Chiefs need to go 3-1 in their final four games, or finish one game better than Buffalo in the closing stretch to claim the top seed.

Buffalo is in a competition for the No. 2 seed now with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Pittsburgh drew level at 10-3 after the Bills fell to the Rams on Sunday. The Bills are currently ahead on the strength of victory tiebreaker.

The rest of the AFC drama is in the wild-card race, where the Los Angeles Chargers, Baltimore Ravens and Denver Broncos all reside at 8-5.

Baltimore still has to play Pittsburgh and the Houston Texans, the Chargers and Broncos play in Week 16 and Denver still has Kansas City on the schedule in Week 18.

Denver could be the most vulnerable of the three wild-card teams because it plays the Chargers and Chiefs and could lose a head-to-head tiebreaker against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 15.

Indianapolis and Miami are two games back of the Broncos and need a good amount of help to claw back into the playoff race.

Baltimore and Los Angeles could drop some games too, but Denver has the toughest closing stretch of the three teams.

An Indianapolis win in Week 15 plus a Miami triumph in Houston would make the wild-card race far more interesting than it currently is.

The Cincinnati Bengals are technically still alive, but even if they beat the Dallas Cowboys on Monday, they need a miracle to make the playoffs.

The NFC wild-card race generated more interest after the Rams' win over the Bills.

Los Angeles pulled within one game of the Washington Commanders. The Rams are also in contention for the NFC West crown against the Seattle Seahawks.

Washington has to play Philadelphia again in Week 16, and its Week 17 home clash with the Atlanta Falcons will not be easy since the Falcons are now in the wild-card scrap.

The Rams' sights might be set more on the divisional crown since they play three of their final four games inside the NFC West.

Los Angeles already owns a win over Seattle and it can earn another victory over the Seahawks in Week 18—a game that looks like it will be for the division title.

Atlanta and the Arizona Cardinals are both trending downward, but they can be serious wild-card contenders if they resurrect their respective seasons.

Both the Falcons and Cardinals should move back to .500 with wins over the Las Vegas Raiders and New England Patriots in Week 15.

The San Francisco 49ers aren't dead yet, either, as they sit at 6-7, but they have a gauntlet of a schedule against the Rams, Dolphins, Lions and Cardinals.

Dallas isn't out of it yet as well, but the Cowboys need to beat the Bengals to re-insert themselves into the wild-card mix.

At the top, Detroit is in safe standing at 12-1, but it does face a difficult test from Buffalo in Week 15. The Lions are only one game ahead of the Minnesota Vikings in the NFC North.

There's a chance the NFC North title comes down to Week 18's clash between the Lions and Vikings, but Minnesota needs to win its next three games for that to be in play.

Philadelphia will be waiting around if the Lions slip up as well. The Eagles are one game back of the top seed, but with the way tiebreakers are shaping up, they need the Lions to lose twice to take home-field advantage.
