The Philadelphia Eagles got off a dig at LeBron James' viral tendency to stretch his knowledge of various topics after it was revealed that Saquon Barkley was named NFC Offensive Player of the Month for November.
In response to the NFL announcing Barkley's award on Thursday, the Eagles posted this on X:
For all of James' legendary skill on the basketball court, he has a reputation for perhaps embellishing certain things.
As an example, during the 2016 NBA playoffs, James claimed to have watched The Godfather II six times. When he was asked to name a favorite quote from the movie prior to Game 6 of the NBA Finals against the Golden State Warriors, he didn't really have an answer.
"There's too many different phrases, too many different lines in that movie to categorize one." … Each movie is nine hours long, what do you want me to do? I'll let you pick one, and I'll roll with it," James said.
NFL cornerback Jalen Ramsey jokingly called James out on his tendency to fabricate the truth during a 2022 appearance on The Shop.
Even though James may not have known going into November that Barkley was going to be rewarded as NFC Player of the Month, it didn't take long before everyone could have predicted this was going to be the result.
Barkley started the month with his instantly-iconic reverse hurdle play against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Nov. 3.
The Eagles played four games in November, winning all of them. Barkley averaged 156.5 rushing yards, 37.8 rushing yards and scored a total of six touchdowns in those games.
Barkley had the ninth-highest single-game rushing total in NFL history with 255 yards in Philadelphia's 37-20 win over the Los Angeles Rams on Nov. 24.
This marks the first time in Barkley's career that he has been named NFC Offensive Player of the Month. He did earn four NFC Offensive Player of the Week awards already this season, with his most recent one coming in that Week 12 victory against the Rams.
Barkley is the first Eagles player to win NFC Offensive Player of the Month since A.J. Brown in October 2023.
The two-time Pro Bowler is off to a great start in his quest to win the award for a second straight month. He began December with 23 carries for 107 yards and a touchdown in Philadelphia's 24-19 win over the Baltimore Ravens on Dec. 1.
