Video: Sherrone Moore Reveals Celebration After Bryce Underwood Committed to Michigan

Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore was thrilled when he heard that quarterback Bryce Underwood, the No. 1 overall prospect in the high class of 2025, chose to play for the Wolverines.

"I threw water in the air, I ran down the hallway, yelling as loud as possibly as I could," Moore said when Mike Hall of the Big Ten Network asked how he celebrated following the Underwood commitment.

"I was elated, I was ecstatic. The need and want to have not only the best player in the country but the best player in the state of Michigan. That was a huge emphasis. It's been a huge emphasis for me to make sure we command the state of Michigan. I want the best players to come here to Michigan. Whenever this place has been great, those players...Michigan and then the footprint, Ohio, Illinois, Indiana, even The DMV. Those are the players that we've gotten, so it was huge for us, and obviously he's an elite player with an elite skillset, but he's an elite kid."

Underwood previously committed to LSU last January, but he flipped to Michigan on Nov. 21. It was a huge win for a program that's struggled offensively in the first year under Moore. The Wolverines finished just 112th out of 134 Division I-FBS teams in scoring. After the team's 13-10 win over Ohio State, Michigan fired offensive coordinator/playcaller Kirk Campbell.

The Wolverines need a star quarterback to take them back to greater heights seen at the tail end of previous head coach Jim Harbaugh's tenure, when the team went 40-3 from 2021-2023, including a 15-0 mark and national title last year.

The highly skilled Underwood can certainly bring the program back to CFP contention with national title hopes in the near future, so it's easy to see why Moore was elated.
