Bleacher Report catches you up on the latest news from the WWE Universe.
WWE Reportedly Hasn't Added Injury Time to Big E's Contract
Although Big E hasn't wrestled since March 2022 due to a major neck injury, WWE is reportedly allowing his contract to proceed forward as usual.
According to Fightful Select (h/t Steve Carrier of Ringside News), the word within WWE as of this past summer was that WWE hadn't added any injury time to Big E's deal and did not intend to do so.
Big E has done other work for WWE during his absence from the ring, including participating on premium live event panels and making public appearances on behalf of the company.
Fightful added that it is unclear how much time is left on Big E's contract or if he has potentially signed a new deal at some point during his injury hiatus.
During a tag team match pitting him and Kofi Kingston against Sheamus and Ridge Holland on the March 11, 2022, episode of SmackDown, Big E suffered two vertebral fractures, and he has not returned to in-ring action ever since.
Although Big E's injuries did not require surgery, he has yet to be cleared by doctors to return to wrestling.
On Monday night's edition of Raw, Big E took part in the 10th anniversary celebration of New Day. He attempted to help Kofi and Xavier Woods reconcile their recent differences, but they scolded him instead.
Kingston and Woods claimed that Big E abandoned them and was only coming back for a last-ditch effort to save them, so they agreed to move on from Big E together, essentially turning heel in the process.
There is still no indication if or when Big E will be able to wrestle again, but if the former WWE, intercontinental and tag team champion does get cleared, there will be huge storyline with Kingston and Woods waiting for him.
Cargill Reportedly on WWE's Internal Injury Report
While there is a great deal of uncertainty regarding Jade Cargill's status after WWE recently involved her in an injury angle on SmackDown, some clarity may have been provided this week.
According to Fightful Select (h/t Carrier), Cargill is on WWE's internal injury list, which suggests she may actually be injured.
After Cargill was left laying on the hood of a car and taken away in an ambulance two weeks ago on SmackDown, several different stories were reported about her, and many of them conflicted.
Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (h/t PWMania) initially reported that Cargill was expected to be out of action for at least three months, but PWInsider.com (h/t PWMania) followed up with a report that Cargill wasn't injured and it was merely an angle for storyline purposes.
Meltzer (h/t PWMania) later followed up, reporting that multiple stories have been floating around with regard to Cargill. The theories ranged from Cargill being legitimately injured to it being a storyline and even to it being used as a way to cover for a "political backstage issue."
Whatever the case, Cargill was removed from the women's WarGames match at Survivor Series and replaced by Bayley, making her a potential suspect as Jade's attacker.
Once Cargill does return to action, it seems likely that the angle involving her mystery attacker will come to a head, potentially leading to a huge feud and match involving Jade.
There is no telling when her return will occur, but if Cargill is actually injured, there is little doubt that WWE would love to have her back in time for a major match at WrestleMania 41 in April.
Reported Reasoning for Saturday Night's Main Event Dates
The first edition of the revived Saturday Night's Main Event concept is set for Dec. 14, but WWE is reportedly already planning for the next one.
According to Meltzer (h/t Carrier), people within WWE have confirmed that the second Saturday Night's Main Event will air on NBC on Jan. 25, 2025.
That raised some eyebrows since it is only one week prior to the Royal Rumble premium live event in Indianapolis, but Meltzer offered an explanation for why two major events are in such close proximity to each other.
NBC reportedly makes the decisions for when the Saturday Night's Main Event shows will happen, so WWE is essentially at NBC's mercy on that front.
While it isn't yet known what will be featured on the Jan. 25 SNME, WWE is stacking the Dec. 14 SNME with several high-profile matches.
A WWE Championship match between Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens is expected to headline the show, plus Liv Morgan will defend the Women's World Championship against Iyo Sky and Gunther will put the World Heavyweight Championship on the line against Finn Bálor.
Additionally, the finals of the tournament to determine the inaugural WWE women's United States champion will be contested on the Dec. 14 Saturday Night's Main Event.
When it comes to the Jan. 25 Saturday Night's Main Event, WWE may not want to give to much away one week out from Royal Rumble, but it won't be surprising if the event has some major Royal Rumble implications.
