The Kansas City Chiefs and Buffalo Bills have been two of the NFL's top franchises in recent years. So, unsurprisingly, they became the first teams in the league to clinch a playoff berth after Week 13 of the 2024 season.
The rest of the 14-team playoff field still needs to be decided with five weeks to go in the regular season. A lot could change throughout the standings over that span.
At the top of the AFC, the Chiefs and the AFC East champion Bills are battling for the No. 1 seed, which comes with the conference's lone bye. Meanwhile, the Detroit Lions are trying to stave off the Philadelphia Eagles and the Minnesota Vikings for the NFC's top berth.
Here's a look at the full playoff picture heading into Week 14 of the NFL season.

AFC Bracket Scenarios
In Week 13, the Kansas City Chiefs clinched a playoff berth. In Week 14, the defending Super Bowl champions have an opportunity to clinch the AFC West title.
If the Chiefs win their Sunday night home matchup vs. the Los Angeles Chargers, they'll be crowned AFC West champions for the ninth consecutive year. It has been a dominant run for Kansas City, which has won at least 10 games every season during that stretch.
Since suffering their lone loss in Week 11 (a road defeat at Buffalo), the Chiefs have rebounded with back-to-back close wins. They notched a 30-27 road victory over the Panthers in Week 12, then returned home to defeat the AFC West rival Raiders 19-17 in a Black Friday matchup.
No other AFC clinches can occur in Week 14. There also may not be a ton of movement in the standings. Of the four teams with eight wins (Texans, Chargers, Ravens and Broncos), three have a bye this week (Houston, Baltimore and Denver).
The Jets (at Miami), Browns (at Pittsburgh) and Titans (vs. Jacksonville) could all be knocked out of playoff contention with either a loss or tie in Week 14. Tennessee is the most likely to stave off elimination, which would also keep it in the running for the AFC South title for now.
NFC Bracket Scenarios
The Lions, Eagles and Vikings will all have opportunities to clinch a playoff berth in Week 14, but Detroit is the only team that may not need help to do so.
On Thursday night, the Lions are set to host the Packers in a key NFC North showdown. If Detroit wins or ties, it will become the first NFC team to secure its spot in the playoff field this season. It already owns a victory over Green Bay, having notched a 24-14 Week 9 road win.
If the Lions lose, they could still clinch a playoff berth this week. But they would need help in the form of multiple other teams losing among the group of the Falcons, Rams, Panthers and Buccaneers. None of those scenarios are that straightforward, though.
That's also the case for Philadelphia's clinching scenarios in Week 14. It will need to beat Carolina at home on Sunday while also getting help via various other results.
It's only a matter of time before the Eagles secure their spot. And if they beat the Panthers (as they should), they'll get closer to doing so, even if it doesn't happen this week.
The Vikings need help to clinch a playoff berth this week as well. They would need to beat the Falcons at home and also get losses from the Cardinals (vs. Seattle) and Rams (vs. Buffalo).
As for elimination scenarios, the Panthers could be knocked out of playoff contention if they lose to the Eagles and the Falcons also lose to the Vikings.
