On the heels of a tremendous upset win at Ohio State, Michigan is ready to sign a top-10 recruiting class.
The current group of commitments includes a pair of 5-star prospects, highlighted by quarterback Bryce Underwood. He's the nation's top player in the 2025 cycle and recently flipped from LSU.
But the Wolverines are looking for more.
The first recruiting haul in Sherrone Moore's tenure will be essential to Michigan's hope of reclaiming a place atop college football.
Top Commits
Bryce Underwood, QB
Early in January 2024, the prized quarterback made a verbal commitment to LSU. Michigan kept recruiting him, though, and those efforts paid off in November when Underwood flipped to the Wolverines. Given that he's the nation's top prospect, calling that a "big win" would be an understatement. Still, after watching Michigan and its disastrous QB situation in 2024, Underwood is a pivotal addition.
Andrew Babalola, OT
It's fair to suggest U-M fans are dreaming of Babalola immediately blocking for Underwood, too. Babalola, who ranks 14th overall in the class, is listed at 6'6" and 280 pounds. He committed to the Wolverines in October over suitors such as Auburn, Missouri and Stanford.
Andrew Olesh, TE
Notre Dame, Oregon and Penn State continue to push for Olesh, who visited all three of those programs in November. Penn State is particularly notable as the in-state program; Olesh is from Center Valley, which is just north of Philadelphia. Olesh is the No. 59 prospect.
Key Remaining Targets
Ty Haywood, OT
Although the recruiting process will end for a majority of prospects on Wednesday, there will be outliers. Haywood is one. The 5-star lineman will not sign, per Mike Roach of 247Sports. Haywood is currently committed to Alabama, but the Wolverines' chance of flipping him undoubtedly rise if they can bring him in for a January visit.
Derek Meadows, WR
Underwood's flip to Michigan may continued to thin LSU's class. Alabama and Michigan are trying to swipe Meadows, a 4-star receiver who is ranked 119th in the class, from his verbal pledge. Meadows would give the Maize and Blue a third 4-star wideout with Andrew Marsh and Jacob Washington.
Rated a 4-star at 130th overall, Owusu-Boateng is yet another blue-chip target. His older brother is former Notre Dame star and current NFL linebacker Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah. Michigan has long been a contender for Owusu-Boateng, who is otherwise considering Colorado, ND and Texas as signing day nears.
Predictions
Even if Michigan adds nobody else to this class, it should be considered a success for Moore and the coaching staff.
There will be commitments.
Meadows looks likely to land at Alabama, but Michigan should feel good about flipping Haywood—provided he does not sign Wednesday, as expected. Things can change in a hurry on the trail. The longer his recruitment lasts, though, the better it would be for U-M.
Owusu-Boateng is tougher to predict, yet the Wolverines are trending positively for the linebacker.
Other prospects to know are 4-star safety and Colorado commit Alex Graham, 4-star athlete and Duke commit Bradley Gompers and 3-star defensive lineman Travis Moten. I'll project them all to join a very talented initial class for Moore in Ann Arbor.
