MLB Free-Agent Tracker 2024: Updates on All the Latest Contract Signings and Trades

Some Major League Baseball offseasons lack excitement with a shortage of top-end talent on the free agency market.

This is not one of them.

A number of the top players in the entire league, including Juan Soto, Corbin Burnes, Max Fried, Alex Bregman and Pete Alonso, are available for teams willing to pay the right price. Their free-agency decisions in December and January could ultimately determine who lifts the World Series trophy in October.

With that in mind, here is a look at this offseason's free-agent signings as they unfold.

Carlos Santana Agrees to Contract with Guardians

Carlos Santana and the Cleveland Guardians agreed to a one-year, $12 million contract, according to Jeff Passan of ESPN.

Josh Naylor Traded to Diamondbacks from Guardians

The Arizona Diamondbacks acquired first baseman Josh Naylor in exchange for right-handed pitcher Slade Cecconi and a competitive balance Round B draft pick, according to ESPN's Jeff Passan.

Paul Goldschmidt Signs with Yankees

First baseman Paul Goldschmidt and the New York Yankees agreed to terms on a one-year, $12.5 million contract, according to ESPN's Jeff Passan.

Jose Trevino Traded to Reds

The New York Yankees are trading catcher Jose Trevino to the Cincinnati Reds in exchange for Fernando Cruz and Alex Jackson, according to Joel Sherman of the New York Post.

Christian Walker Signs with Astros

Patrick Sandoval Signs with Red Sox

Left-handed pitcher Patrick Sandoval and the Boston Red Sox agreed to terms on a two-year, $18.25 million contract, according to ESPN's Jeff Passan.

Sandoval, who had Tommy John surgery in June, is expected to return for the second half of the 2025 season, Passan reported.

Gio Urshela Signs with A's

Free-agent infielder Gio Urshela and the A's agreed to terms on a major-league contract for the 2025 season, according to ESPN's Jesse Rogers.

Max Kepler Signs with Phillies

Max Kepler and the Philadelphia Phillies have reportedly agreed to a one-year deal, per MLB.com's Todd Zolecki. ESPN's Jeff Passan added that the contract is worth $10 million.

Kepler spent the first 10 seasons of his career with the Minnesota Twins.

Cody Bellinger Traded to Yankees

The New York Yankees acquired outfielder/first baseman Cody Bellinger and cash from the Chicago Cubs in exchange for reliever Cody Poteet, according to ESPN's Jeff Passan.

Brandon Waddell Signs with Mets

The New York Mets signed pitcher Brandon Waddell to a one-year major-league contract, according to Robert Murray of Fansided.

The 30-year-old has made just 11 appearances in the majors, most recently in 2021 with the St. Louis Cardinals, but spent the past few years in Korea's KBO. The left-hander finished last season with a 3.12 ERA in 14 starts for the Doosan Bears.

Tomoyuki Sugano Signs with Orioles

The Baltimore Orioles and pitcher Tomoyuki Sugano agreed to a one-year, $13 million contract, per ESPN's Jeff Passan.

Passan called him "one of the best pitchers in Japanese baseball this year, posting a 1.67 ERA and walking 16 against 111 strikeouts over 156.2 innings."

Jeffrey Springs Reportedly Traded to A's

The A's reportedly traded for Tampa Bay Rays pitcher Jeffrey Springs and another player yet to be named, according to ESPN's Jeff Passan. The Rays reportedly will receive "right-handers Joe Boyle and Jacob Watters, outfielder Will Simpson as well as a compensation A round draft pick from the A's," according to Passan.

Kyle Tucker Traded to Cubs

The Houston Astros traded outfielder Kyle Tucker to the Chicago Cubs in exchange for infielder Isaac Paredes, pitcher Hayden Wesneski and infielder Cam Smith, according to The Athletic's Chandler Rome.

The Milwaukee Brewers traded closer Devin Williams to the New York Yankees in exchange for pitcher Nestor Cortes, infielder Caleb Curbin and cash considerations.

Jonathan Loáisiga Signs with Yankees

Jonathan Loáisiga agreed to a one-year contract with the New York Yankees, according to MLB.com's Jorge Castillo.

The deal reportedly includes a team option for the 202 season.

Garrett Crochet Traded to Red sox

The Boston Red Sox are finalizing a trade to acquire pitcher Garrett Crochet from the Chicago White Sox, according to ESPN's Jeff Passan.

The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal reported the White Sox will receive catcher Kyle Teel, outfielder Braden Montgomery, infielder Chase Meidroth and pitcher Wikelman Gonzalez in exchange for Crochet.

Jake Burger Traded to Rangers

The Texas Rangers are acquiring Jake Burger from the Miami Marlins, according to The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal.

According to ESPN's Alden González, the Marlins will receive prospects Echedry Vargas and Max Acosta and starter Brayan Mendoza in exchange for Burger.

Spencer Horwitz Traded to Pirates

The Cleveland Guardians are finalizing a trade to send Spencer Horwitz to the Pittsburgh Pirates, per The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal.

According to MLB.com's Mark Feinsand, the Guardians are getting Josh Hartle, Luis Ortiz and Michael Kennedy in exchange.

Cleveland initially acquired Horwitz from the Toronto Blue Jays on Tuesday in a deal involving Andrés Giménez.

Nathan Eovaldi Signs with Rangers

Free-agent pitcher Nathan Eovaldi and the Texas Rangers have agreed to a three-year, $35 million contract, according to ESPN's Jeff Passan.

Andrés Giménez Traded to Blue Jays

The Toronto Blue Jays are finalizing a trade to acquire second baseman Andrés Giménez from the Cleveland Guardians, per ESPN's Jeff Passan.

Cleveland will receive pitcher Nick Sandlin and infielder Spencer Horwitz from Toronto as part of the deal, per The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal.

Max Fried Signs with Yankees

Max Fried has agreed to an eight-year, $218 million contract with the New York Yankees, according to ESPN's Jeff Passan.

The deal is the "largest guarantee in baseball history for a left-handed pitcher," Passan added.

Yimi Garcia Signs with Blue Jays

Right-handed reliever Yimi Garcia agreed to a two-year, $15 million contract with the Toronto Blue Jays, according to Sportsnet's Ben Nicholson-Smith and Shi Davidi.

Thairo Estrada Signs with Rockies

Thairo Estrada agreed to a one-year contract with the Colorado Rockies, according to Mark Feinsand of MLB.com.

Feinsand reported Estrada will earn $3.25 million in 2025. The deal reportedly includes a mutual option for 2026, with a $750,000 buyout.

Mike Tauchman Signs with White sox

The Chicago White Sox have reportedly signed outfielder Mike Tauchman, according to Scott Merkin of MLB.com.

Tauchman spent the past two years on the crosstown Chicago Cubs, finishing last year with a .248 average and seven home runs in 109 games.

Alex Cobb Signs with Tigers

Right-handed pitcher Alex Cobb agreed to a one-year deal with the Detroit Tigers, according to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic.

Jordan Romano Signs with Phillies

Right-handed reliever Jordan Romano agreed to a contract with the Philadelphia Phillies, according to ESPN's Jeff Passan.

The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal reported Romano will earn $8.5 million on the one-year deal, with the chance to earn an additional $500,000 if he pitches 60 innings next season.

Blake Treinen Re-signs with Dodgers

After helping the Los Angeles Dodgers win a World Series in 2024, reliever Blake Treinen opted to return to the team.

He signed a two-year, $22 million deal with the Dodgers, per The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal.

Juan Soto Signs with Mets

Free agent outfielder Juan Soto signed with the New York Mets following his one-year stint with the New York Yankees, per The New York Post's Jon Heyman.

The 15-year, $765 million deal is the largest contract in sports history.

Michael Conforto Signs with Dodgers

Free agent outfielder Michael Conforto signed with the Los Angeles Dodgers, per MLB Network's Mark Feinsand.

Per The Athletic's Fabian Ardaya, the contract is a one-year, $17 million deal.

Gary Sánchez Signs with Orioles

Free-agent catcher Gary Sánchez has signed a one-year deal with the Baltimore Orioles, per the New York Post's Jon Heyman.

The contract is worth $8.5 million, Heyman added.

Tyler O'Neill Signs with Orioles

Free-agent outfielder Tyler O'Neill and the Baltimore Orioles agreed to terms on a three-year, $49.5 million contract, according to the New York Post's Jon Heyman.

The deal includes an opt-out after the 2025 season, Heyman reported.

Willy Adames Signs with Giants

Free-agent shortstop Willy Adames and the San Francisco Giants agreed to terms on a seven-year, $182 million contract, according to ESPN's Jeff Passan.

The deal is the largest in Giants history, Passan reported, and it includes a $22 million signing bonus.

Clay Holmes Signs with Mets

The deal is pending a physical, per Joel Sherman of the New York Post.

Shane Bieber Re-Signs with Guardians
