Backstage WWE and AEW Rumors: Latest on The Bloodline, Jade Cargill, More

Erik Beaston

The Bloodline has injected life into the doldrums of the fall months in WWE and if insider reports are any indication, Roman Reigns and Co. will not go their separate ways after Survivor Series: WarGames.

The group's future headlines this collection of wrestling rumors, which also includes the latest on Jade Cargill's championship status, Ricky Starks' contractual situation, and ideas for Big E and The New Day on Monday's WWE Raw.

How Long Will The Bloodline Remain Connected?

WrestleVotes Radio reported that, while there is still a question about how long CM Punk will be involved, The OG Bloodline "won't completely be disbanded after this weekend's Survivor Series" and the group will remain interconnected through the Royal Rumble.

While some will question the decision, it would make little sense for the group to set aside all of the issues that have faced them over the last few years, reunite for Survivor Series and then forget all of the efforts that went into getting back together to go their separate ways.

The report also suggests at least a modicum of possibility that Solo Sikoa and Co. will leave Saturday's premium live event with the win, necessitating the group's continued existence as they seek revenge for the WarGames defeat.

Given the OG Bloodline's popularity as 2024 draws to a close and its storyline potential, it's a wise creative decision.

Update on Women's Tag Team Titles After Jade Cargill Injury Angle

WrestleVotes also reported WWE is expected to vacate the Women's Tag Team Championship amid the Jade Cargill injury angle.

Cargill and Bianca Belair not being able to defend the titles on time, based on precedent, make this the right creative move.

It not only allows other teams to have something worth fighting for, but it also protects Belair and The Storm from another defeat at a time when it appears the company is heating up The EST of WWE for a potential singles run.

Most importantly, it allows for the "whodunnit" story to take precedence without overshadowing the tag titles when Cargill returns to television.

While it may not be a popular decision for those hoping to see a more complete run for the team, the positives outweigh the negatives.

Big E's Role in New Day's 10th-Anniversary Celebration

The busy WrestleVotes also reported there have been several ideas presented to Big E for his possible involvement in Monday's 10th-anniversary celebration of The New Day.

The 38-year-old was an essential piece of the group, so one can only hope whatever he does Monday night affects its future.

Lately, Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston have been at odds, as close to the demise of New Day as we have seen. Big E could be the driving force for a reunion or his interjection could prove to be too little, too late as the group goes its separate ways after a decade of entertaining the fans.

Regardless, the former WWE champion's presence is a must and should result in an unforgettable moment.

Possible promo of the year incoming.

Latest on Ricky Starks' Contractual Status in AEW

Ricky Starks is one of the hottest topics in professional wrestling right now, and Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select provided an update on his contractual status:

"Fightful Select learned via numerous AEW sources that AEW had an option year in the spring of 2024 in which they picked up. This extends Ricky Starks' stay into the spring or summer of 2025. Those that we spoke to said that prior to the option being picked up, he was hoping to test the open market."

Starks recently appeared in GCW, where he claimed to have been "frozen out" by All Elite Wrestling management. He has not competed on television since the March 30 episode of Collision, where he and Big Bill lost a tag team title tournament quarterfinal to Top Flight. This is also despite not being injured.

The 34-year-old did make headlines for appearing backstage at the Royal Rumble with his friend, Cody Rhodes, and was also at WrestleMania 40 to watch his pal win the Undisputed WWE Championship.

Whether that had any impact on his status with AEW is best left to those involved. For now, though, it appears Starks will not be brought back to TV anytime soon, with the real possibility his contract runs out and he becomes a free agent by the spring.
