Week 13 of the 2024 NFL season spans four game days and features all 32 teams.
The first four contests already in the books helped provide some clarity on the playoff front.
The Kansas City Chiefs became the campaign's first club to officially clinch a postseason berth. The New York Giants, meanwhile, were the first to officially be eliminated from contention, and the Las Vegas Raiders have since joined them in the elimination club.
That's all that has been officially decided so far, though the standings suggest most teams have a pretty decent idea about their postseason fates already. Speaking of those standings, let's update them for both conferences and find what's worth tracking down the season's final stretch.

x-clinched playoff berth; e-eliminated from playoff contention
Miami's 30-17 loss to the Green Bay Packers on Thanksgiving may have gone a long way toward cementing the AFC playoff field.
For starters, it opened up the possibility of Buffalo clinching the AFC East title on Sunday with a win over the San Francisco 49ers. Beyond that, it widened the gap between the wild card teams and those still scrambling to find their spot.
The Broncos, winners of two straight, may not have felt too much pressure to begin with, but the Dolphins were clearly grooving with a healthy Tua Tagovailoa back behind the wheel. Miami felt like a team to watch after winning three straight, but another listless showing in a cold-weather contest makes this team a long-shot at best.
If the wild card race is simply a slow jog to the finish line, then the races to watch might involve the No. 1 seed and the AFC North title.
Kansas City keeps finding ways of wiggling out of nail-biters—sometimes against some pretty underwhelming opponents—but one slip-up could change everything. The Chiefs have the one-game advantage for now, but the Bills hold the head-to-head tiebreaker for the top seed after knocking off Kansas City in Week 11.
As for the AFC North, the Steelers have a half-game cushion for now, but the Ravens still have their bye (Week 14) and will host these teams' final meeting in Week 16. Pittsburgh won the first matchup, though, meaning that Week 16 game is one Baltimore almost certainly has to get in order to claim the division crown.
NFC Standings

2. Philadelphia Eagles (9-2; lead NFC East)

Wild-Card Race
5. Minnesota Vikings (9-2)
6. Green Bay Packers (9-3)
7. Washington Commanders (7-5)
8. Arizona Cardinals (6-5)
9. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (5-6)
10 Los Angeles Rams (5-6)
11. San Francisco 49ers (5-6)
12. Dallas Cowboys (5-7)
13. New Orleans Saints (4-7)
14. Chicago Bears (4-8)
15. Carolina Panthers (3-8)
16. e-New York Giants (2-10)
*e-eliminated from playoff contention
The NFC feels like it has a handful of haves and a whole bunch of have-nots. Well, that or it's just the Lions, winners of 10 straight, and then everyone else.
That's not to slight anyone else in this conference, but Detroit has solidified a tier of its own. Beyond all the wins, the Lions' point differential sits at a staggering plus-180 on the season. For context, the Bills are second in the category at plus-106, while the Eagles (plus-97), Packers (plus-78) and Vikings (plus-77) are the only other teams sitting north of plus-70.
That's why Detroit almost feels locked in at No. 1, even though Philadelphia, Minnesota and Green Bay are all riding winning streaks of at least three games. If the Lions never lose, then the Eagles aren't getting up to No. 1, and the Vikings and Packers won't do better than the fifth and sixth seeds.
The areas of focus, then, are essentially on whether the Commanders, losers of three straight, leave the door open for anyone to climb into the last wild card spot, whether the Falcons, losers of two straight, get tracked down by the Buccaneers and who escapes from the Wild West.
All four teams in the NFC West have five or six wins so far. Three of the four—Arizona (plus-8), Seattle (plus-2) and San Francisco (even)—are even with eight points of each other in season-long scoring differentials. This should be a photo finish, especially when Week 18 features the Rams hosting the Seahawks and the 49ers hosting the Cardinals.
