MLB Rumors: Trades, FA 'Hot Stove Is About to Become Enflamed After Thanksgiving'

The already active MLB "hot stove" is expected to ignite further after Thanksgiving, fueling an increase in trade and free agent discussions.

"In conversations and interviews with general managers, executives and agents the past week, they are boldly predicting that the hot stove is about to become enflamed after Thanksgiving, with a flurry of trades, and marquee free agent signings," according to USA Today's Bob Nightengale.

Conversations have mostly slowed, with most breaking stories revolving around Juan Soto and every move he makes as teams compete for the five-time Silver Slugger.

However, the buzz is expected to quickly intensify as teams eagerly looks to make improvements.

"It's not going to be like a year ago when the winter meetings were an embarrassment," one prominent agent said, per Nightengale. "Nothing happened... This year is different. Everyone is much more aggressive, or at least they're acting like it."

Every team harbors playoff aspirations, with most searching for the missing piece to help them get there. However, a significant question remains unanswered.

"Who has the money, and who doesn't?" one GM said, per Nightengale. "Everyone is talking a big game, but no one really knows for sure. We're about to find out."

The annual baseball winter meetings begin Dec. 8 in Dallas where conversations will reach a boiling point.

Savor the calm before the storm, as it seems no one is safe heading into next week.
