Golf fans hungry for some high-stakes action will be in for a treat over the next two days. TNT Sports' The Match returns with The Match: Superstars, a two-night event that will feature no pro golfers but a host of big-name celebrities.
This latest iteration of the made-for-TV event will also offer a $1 million prize to the winner. That's quite an incentive, even for competitors who may be more interested in earning bragging rights.
In typical The Match fashion, the event will utilize a unique up-close-and-personal perspective that will give fans an insight into the play—and the inevitable trash talk—of celebrities like actor Bill Murray, NBA Hall of Famer Charles Barkley and Olympic legend Michael Phelps.
Fans can follow the event on TNT and Max, while Bleacher Report and House of Highlights will provide social and digital content that will feature The Broadcast Boys, Fat Perez and Joey Cold Cuts.
It should be a thoroughly entertaining competition through all three rounds. Here are a few storylines to track as the action unfolds.

Charles Barkley Remains a Fixture of 'The Match'
While this iteration of The Match will provide a lot of firsts, it will give fans one very familiar element: Barkley. The basketball legend and Inside the NBA star has been a regular at the event.
This will mark Barkley's ninth overall appearance in The Match. While most of his appearances have come as a member of the broadcast team, he has competed before.
Barkley won The Match III alongside Phil Mickelson, beating the tandem of Peyton Manning and Stephen Curry. It's fair to say that Michelson largely carried Barkley in that event, though. As anyone who has followed Barkley's foray into golf knows, he spent quite a long time having trouble with his swing.
However, the 61-year-old may have rediscovered his form this year. He placed 58th at the American Century in July, which may not seem noteworthy but represented a breakthrough for the long-struggling competitor.
"It's the best I've ever probably played anywhere," Barkley said, per Alan Bastable of Golf.com. "I played really well. I was really confident."
Barkley is always a joy to watch during The Match. It'll be especially fun to see if he can win the event for a second time.
Can a Non-Athlete Win?
It's always fun watching non-sports celebrities compete in tournaments like the American Century Championship, though they don't always fare particularly well. Actor Jack Wagner is the only non-athlete to win the American Century, though he has done so twice.
While most members of the field for The Match: Superstars are pro sports Hall of Famers or sporting legends, Murray, actor Mark Wahlberg and comedian Nate Bargatze will have chances to show what they can do.
These three are no strangers to the golf course. Murray, who famously starred in Caddyshack, has made many on-course appearances and has regularly competed in the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.
Wahlberg has hosted the Feldman Automotive Children's Miracle Celebrity Invitational, while Bargatze tied for 47th in this year's American Century Championship.
NHL Hall of Famer Wayne Gretzky—who will pair with Murray on Thursday night—has noted that an athletic background doesn't automatically make one a great golfer.
"People think because you're an athlete, because I was a hockey player, I should be a good golfer. No, I'm not," Gretzky said in September, per the Canadian Press.
It'll be fun to see if a competitor whose awards have typically come from the stage can beat some of the biggest names in sports.
