Mike Tyson was happy to be back in the ring despite suffering a unanimous decision loss to Jake Paul in their fight on Friday night.

"This is one of those situations when you lost but still won," Tyson wrote in a post on X. "I'm grateful for last night. No regrets to get in ring one last time."

"I almost died in June," he added.

The 58-year-old was initially supposed to face off against Paul in July, but the match was pushed back after Tyson suffered an ulcer flare-up.

Paul responded to Tyson on X, calling him "an inspiration to us all."

The former heavyweight champion suffered a flare-up that resulted in him becoming nauseous and dizzy with roughly 30 minutes left before landing during a May 26 flight from Miami to Los Angeles, according to Ryan Glasspiegel and Matt Ehalt of the New York Post.

Tyson later detailed his experience in the days following the incident.

"I had a big ulcer, two-and-a-half inches, and it was bleeding," Tyson said, via ESPN's Mike Coppinger. "All my friends were calling me like I was dying. I asked the doctor if I was going to die, and she didn't say 'No.' ... You wouldn't believe what I endured from my ulcer. I lost 26 pounds."

While he wasn't able to defeat his 27-year-old opponent at AT&T Stadium on Friday, being able to hang in the ring throughout all eight rounds of the bout was impressive considering his health scare.

Tyson didn't immediately appear to be willing to step away from the sport following the loss, explaining that "it depends on the situation" after fighting Paul (via Schuyler Dixon of the Associated Press).

However, his post on Saturday seemed to indicate that he won't step into the ring again.
