The eyes of the sporting world will be on Netflix Friday as Mike Tyson and Jake Paul square off in what is, perhaps, the most surreal boxing match in recent memory.
Tyson, 58, returns to the ring for the first time since a 2020 exhibition against Roy Jones Jr. to battle Paul, a celebrity boxer who has attracted scrutiny for his lack of competitive fights.
Whether or not the fight is a sideshow is irrelevant as "at least 60,000" fans are expected to fill AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas for the showdown, per the Associated Press.
How much is at stake and which fighter should be expected to win the much-publicized fight?
Let's take a look.

Fight Prediction
On the surface, the idea of Tyson beating a younger, faster opponent with the size and reach advantage that Paul has seems rather absurd. Add to that the fact that he is nearing 60 and has not had a fight that counted since 2005, and you have a scenario in which Tyson seemingly has no realistic shot of emerging victorious.
Paul has never battled a boxer like Tyson, though.
This is a legitimate boxer, one of the most devastating punchers in the sport's history. He has a 50-6 record, with 44 wins coming via knockout. While it will be difficult for him to get close to Paul without risking defeat due to the five-inch reach difference, one punch from the former heavyweight champion could put the actor and Youtuber-turned-boxer down.
That he is taking the fight seriously, his competitive spirit apparent in any interview or press conference he has appeared while promoting it, only lends credibility that he could conceivably do the unthinkable and beat his much younger opponent.
It is still not a fight that plays to Tyson's strengths.
If Paul can extend the fight and use his speed to tire out his opponent, he can outlast him. The key will be not letting the moment get the best of him, to the point that he goes off swinging and invites a Tyson haymaker that ends it in short order.
While it is difficult to predict exactly what happens when the bell rings and the fight commences, expect a circus-like atmosphere full of the pomp, circumstance, and showmanship people expect on Friday night on Netflix.
The circumstances favor Paul but there is something about the old knockout artist Tyson that makes him an intriguing pick here. Perhaps because, despite the clear spectacle that this is meant to be, he is approaching it with the seriousness that he did his most famous fights.
Prediction: Tyson, against the odds, via decision (and a rematch)
