A new NBA season means new city edition uniforms.
The NBA unveiled its 2024-25 city edition uniforms for all 30 teams Thursday:
The various designs, different colors and even the use of nicknames in such cases as the Lake Show and Heat Culture stand out and will provide a unique look to certain games during the 2024-25 campaign.
A social media thread from the NBA explained the reasons for the various designs for each NBA team, although some stand out more than others.
The Denver Nuggets' jerseys pay homage to the Mile High City moniker with 5280 on the front. There are 5,280 feet in a mile, and the jerseys also give a nod to the franchise's previous rainbow design with mountain lines on the side.
Mountains are a clear theme for the Utah Jazz as well.
With the mountain design and the purple and throwback-style font along the front, it will be easy for fans to envision the franchise's great teams from the 1990s when the Jazz take the court.
Perhaps no jersey stands out more than those of the Toronto Raptors with the cartoon dinosaur throwing down Vince Carter's famous dunk on the front. The cartoon raptor is also wearing the iconic purple and red jersey and unleashing Carter's between-the-legs dunk he used to win the 2000 Slam Dunk Contest in one of the most memorable performances in the event's history.
This is part of what is turning into a season-long celebration of Carter for the Raptors. They also made his No. 15 jersey the first number retired by the franchise earlier this month and honored him with a ceremony.
Now fans will have a chance to remember that era again when the current-day Raptors wear their city edition uniforms.
