Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa says he is fine after a scary incident during Monday's win over the Los Angeles Rams when he took a knee to the head attempting to make a tackle after throwing an interception.
Speaking to reporters after the game, Tagovailoa said he feels "good" even though he used "bad tackling form" on the play.
The play occurred early in the second quarter when Tagovailoa's pass intended for Jaylen Waddle was picked off by Rams linebacker Christian Rozeboom.
Rozeboom was running up the sideline when Tagovailoa lowered his body in an attempt to make a tackle, resulting in Rozeboom's knee making contact with his head.
Given the concussion issues that Tagovailoa has had, there was immediate concern that he might have suffered another injury. There was no obvious indication anything was wrong. He got right up and walked to the sideline.
Tagovailoa played the rest of the game without any obvious issue. He finished 20-of-28 for 207 yards with one touchdown and one interception in the 23-15 victory that kept the Dolphins' slim playoff hopes alive.
The next few days will likely be informative about Tagovailoa's physical state. He played an entire game against the Green Bay Packers on Christmas Day two years ago, but it was revealed three days later that he suffered a concussion during the game.
Tagovailoa missed four games earlier this season after suffering a concussion in Miami's Week 2 loss against the Buffalo Bills. It was the third diagnosed concussion of his NFL career.
Monday's win improved Miami's record to 3-6 overall this season. The Dolphins are only one game behind the Denver Broncos in the loss column for the final playoff spot in the AFC entering Week 11.
