Following the Detroit Lions' 26-23 victory over the Houston Texans on Sunday night, fans were astonished that the Lions managed to pull off the comeback win despite quarterback Jared Goff throwing five interceptions.
Lions kicker Jake Bates secured the win for Detroit, nailing a 58-yard field goal to tie the game 23-23 with 5:01 remaining, followed by a walk-off game-winning 52-yarder.
Detroit improved to 8-1 on the season, extending their winning streak to seven straight games, while the Texans dropped to 6-4.
After leading 23-7 at halftime, the Texans were shut out in the second half as the Lions surged back with 19 unanswered points to secure the win.
It was an ugly game for both quarterbacks as each threw for more interceptions than touchdowns.
Goff completed 15-of-30 passes for 240 yards, with two touchdowns and five interceptions. Running back Jahmyr Gibbs contributed with 19 carries for 71 yards.
On the other side of the ball, C.J. Stroud completed 19-of-33 passes for 232 yards, with one touchdown and two interceptions.
Numerous Lions fans turned off the game at halftime, doubtful of a comeback, only to be thrilled by the unexpected victory.
The Lions will play the Jacksonville Jaguars next Sunday at home.
