Mahomes, Chiefs Stay Undefeated as Blocked FG Wows Fans in Win vs. Payton, Broncos

Andrew Peters

The Kansas City Chiefs are still rolling.

They beat the Denver Broncos 16-14 on Sunday after blocking what would have been the game winning field goal.

Kansas City led by two with less than two minutes to go in the game, but Denver drove down the field and milked the clock before setting up their field goal. It would have been a relatively easy 35-yard attempt, but the Chiefs got a hand on the ball to keep their dreams of an undefeated season alive.

After the miraculous finish, fans were stunned on social media.

It was far from the Chiefs' prettiest game of the season as they got most of their points from field goals as Harrison Butker made three. Their sole touchdown came in the second quarter when Travis Kelce caught a touchdown pass from Patrick Mahomes to take a 14-10 lead.

The win for the Chiefs marked their ninth of the season and they now have 15 in a row, their last loss coming against the Las Vegas Raiders on Christmas Day a season ago. While Kansas City is still undefeated, it hasn't exactly been dominant this season with seven of its nine wins coming by one score or less.

The Chiefs aren't complaining, though, and they'll look to make it 10 in a row next week against the Buffalo Bills, who could be one of their biggest challengers in the AFC later this season.
