NFL Rumors: David Njoku 'Highly Unlikely' to Be Traded by Browns Ahead of Deadline

Taylyn Hadley

Cleveland Browns tight end David Njoku is "highly unlikely" to be traded before the 5 p.m. ET deadline on Tuesday, according to NFL Insider Jordan Schultz.

Despite receiving several calls from other teams regarding his availability, Njoku is viewed as part of the Browns' long-term plans.

Njoku and the Browns are 2-7 this season as the tight end has posted 30 receptions for 255 yards and two touchdowns.

The 28-year-old has spent all eight seasons in the NFL with the Browns, recording 3,519 total yards and 27 touchdowns over 101 games.

He is currently signed to a four-year, $54.8 million contract with the Browns. Trading him would lead to a $20.9 million cap hit, while retaining him would require a $14.3 million cash commitment and a cap figure of $22.2 million.

For now, the veteran Browns player will remain in Cleveland as the team heads into its bye week.
