Bloodline Story Better Than Ever and Top Takeaways from WWE Crown Jewel 2024 Results

Kevin Berge

The crowd was electric inside the Mohammed Abdo Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia for Crown Jewel 2024.

The Bloodline went to war in a six-man tag team match that ended with a shocking win for Solo Sikoa, who pinned Roman Reigns clean. Sami Zayn evened the odds afterward to add more drama to the story.

Cody Rhodes survived the best shots of Gunther and ended his unbeaten run since WrestleMania 40 with an emphatic victory for the men's Crown Jewel Championship.

Liv Morgan took advantage of the Tiffany Stratton drama as well as assistance from Raquel Rodriguez and Dominik Mysterio to defeat Nia Jax and capture the women's Crown Jewel Championship.

"Big" Bronson Reed brutalized Seth Rollins but still fell to a trio of Stomps. Randy Orton and Kevin Owens brawled so viciously that they never had a match.

Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill overcame the field to retain the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship.

The best match of the night was LA Knight vs. Carmelo Hayes vs. Andrade. The Megastar survived the best efforts of the two best challengers he has faced.

This was an energized show with plenty of major takeaways as WWE focuses on Survivor Series next on Nov. 30

The Bloodline Drama Is Hotter Than Ever

The fans in Riyadh have always cheered on The Bloodline, but the energy in the arena was different for this battle.

Roman Reigns was massively over, Jey Uso had the entire crowd singing along with his theme, and Solo Sikoa was hated more than anyone else on the show.

Even Sami Zayn's arrival after the contest to save Reigns, Jey and Jimmy Uso was cheered bigger than just about anything else on the night.

The match itself was slower than it needed to be, but everyone involved knew that the crowd was going to be in for as long as it took.

Zayn's arrival as well as the drama between Reigns and Jey has brought The Bloodline back to its best era, and the build should get even better on the road to Survivor Series: WarGames.

Women's Tag Division Proves Value with Early Show-Stealer

Going into the night, Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill looked to have a tough test standing out in a rushed Fatal 4-Way tag.

However, thanks to the combined efforts of the champions, Damage CTRL, Chelsea Green and Piper Niven, and Lash Legend and Jakara Jackson, this was an early show-stealer.

Especially down the stretch, everyone stood out in a flurry of sequences that got all four teams over.

Even without a title change, this was as good as the women's tag division has looked in years and set up multiple exciting matches for the near future.

Belair and Cargill vs. Iyo Sky and Kairi Sane remains the money match, but Meta-Four also made a serious impact that may have proved Legend and Jackson are ready for the full main roster call-up.

Green and Niven losing likely puts them at the back of the line in the title scene, but this match also proved the value of these two once again.

Bronson Reed Deserved the Win over Seth Rollins

Bronson Reed pushed Seth Rollins in a simple but effective battle of monster vs. man. Mr. Nice Guy earned more opportunities on this stage with his performance.

However, he should not have lost this battle. While The Visionary stands a level above Reed on the card, the Australian has shown recently how much value he adds to the product.

Especially after losing his feud with Braun Strowman, Reed needed a bounce back, and a victory over Rollins would have put him right back on track.

It is hard to be certain there will be a rematch. While the two were still jaw-jacking after the match, Rollins could try to move on to fight CM Punk next.

Hopefully, there is still time for Reed to get his second shot and pull off the biggest victory of his career.

Liv Morgan Yet to Prove She is Worthy of Top Championship Accolades

Liv Morgan was once considered one of the most underrated performers in the WWE locker room. However, 2024 has seen her add multiple major accolades to her name.

She is the women's world champion and now the women's Crown Jewel champion. This places her at the top of a women's division that she has struggled to lead forward.

As much as fans are invested in The Judgment Day drama of Morgan and Dominik Mysterio, the champion's matches have struggled alongside her credibility.

At every turn, she has had to be saved by multiple friends. Morgan barely got a chance to stand out against Jax before Tiffany Stratton, Dirty Dom and Raquel Rodriguez all got involved.

The best opportunists in history have found ways to survive with or without help. Even if interference helped them, those veterans found ways to catch the eye on their own merit.

At this point, neither women's champion stands out as a credible top star in a division that needs strong leaders.

With Rhea Ripley likely out for a while due to injury, Morgan needs to show she can build up her challengers as stars around her.

Randy Orton and Kevin Owens Deliver Most Heated Action of the Night...Without a Match

Randy Orton and Kevin Owens did not wait for the bell before starting to brawl. This was a fight that even officials could not break up.

This kind of brutal action is missing too often in WWE. KO and The Viper sold a hatred that already rivals what CM Punk and Drew McIntyre did together earlier in the year.

In a feud that has just started, this says so much about the talent of these veterans to sell a story.

Even if the actual match was delayed until a likely stipulation at Survivor Series, this was the best action of the show and sold Orton vs. Owens as must-see when it happens.

LA Knight Could Not Lose After Best In-Ring Performance

LA Knight knew he needed to step up when working with Carmelo Hayes and Andrade, who have stolen the show week after week on SmackDown.

He did just that with some of the best offense of his career. He looked smoother than he ever has in the ring,

While some will argue this was the night for The Megastar to lose the United States Championship, the hot crowd behind him and a top-level performance prove he is still rolling as champion.

Melo and El Idolo are both worthy champions of the future, but Knight waited almost a year longer than necessary to get the gold.

WWE cannot move too fast away from him unless he is stepping right up into the main event scene.

Gunther Loss Proves Champion vs. Champion Match Was a Mistake

Gunther and Cody Rhodes went to war like only two of the best in WWE today can. However, this never felt like it had serious stakes, and it was more of an exhibition than a championship bout.

The Ring General and The American Nightmare took it slow while playing to a strong crowd. Gunther controlled the action, but Rhodes was ultimately the better man.

The problem in this result is that WWE has consistently protected Gunther on the main roster.

Outside his one loss to Sami Zayn that he avenged recently, the Austrian had never been pinned or submitted since his call-up from NXT.

Even if the men's Crown Jewel Championships amounts to little beyond Saturday's show, Rhodes will hold a pinfall victory over Gunther that shows he is vulnerable.

The next few challengers to The Ring General will need to be sacrificed to reestablish he is a top man as well as to showcase the value of his championship.

Gunther wanted to establish the World Heavyweight Championship as a true world title, but a hierarchy was set in this match and cannot be corrected for another year.
