WWE Reportedly Considering World Title Match for Cena at WrestleMania

John Cena is set to have his WWE retirement tour throughout 2025, and there have reportedly been discussions about him having a huge match at WrestleMania 41.

According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (h/t WrestlePurists), there is talk of WWE having Cena challenge for a world title at the biggest event of the year.

Should that happen, WWE could focus on the fact that Cena can set a new record for career world title wins with 17. He is currently tied with Ric Flair for the all-time record of 16.

During an appearance at Money in the Bank in July, the 47-year-old Cena announced that 2025 would be his final year as an active wrestler.

That means WrestleMania 41 will be his final WrestleMania, so WWE would undoubtedly love to get him involved in a match of significance.

Currently, Cody Rhodes is the WWE champion and Gunther is the world heavyweight champion, and while there is no guarantee either of them will still be champion by WrestleMania, both would be great opponents for Cena.

Cena and Rhodes are real-life friends, which could make for a strong storyline focused on respect, whereas Gunther is a dominant heel who would play well off Cena's super babyface persona.

During his promo at Money in the Bank, Cena said 2025 would be a year of lasts for him, including the Royal Rumble, which suggests he will be an entrant in the 2025 men's Royal Rumble match.

Assuming that happens, Cena will unquestionably be among the top contenders since a win would guarantee him a world title match at WrestleMania.

Also, given that Cena is going to wrestle throughout 2025, it isn't outside the realm of possibility that Cena could win a world title at WrestleMania before dropping it later in the year.

Cena is one of the all-time greats and another world title win wouldn't make or break his career, but based on everything he has given WWE for the past two decades, world title reign No. 17 would be the perfect way for the company to pay homage to him and his career.

WWE Possibly Bringing in Travis Scott for Raw Appearance

WWE has reportedly had talks about involving superstar rapper Travis Scott in an upcoming show.

According to WrestleVotes (h/t Subhojeet Mukherjee of Ringside News), WWE has had "preliminary high-level discussions" regarding Scott appearing on the debut episode of Raw on Netflix.

After 31 years of being on traditional television, Raw is officially making the move to streaming next year when it transitions from USA Network to Netflix.

WWE and Netflix agreed to a 10-year deal worth $5 billion back in January to make Netflix the exclusive home of Raw, and that will officially go into effect in January 2025.

The first Raw on Netflix is scheduled for Jan. 6 and it is set to take place in Los Angeles, per WrestleVotes.

Scott is originally from Houston, but he later moved to L.A., which is where his rap career truly took off.

Also, Scott was introduced as WWE legend Rey Mysterio's mystery tag team partner at Fanatics Fest back in August, so he already has a connection to WWE.

Given WWE's penchant for working with celebrities and the obvious desire to make the first Raw on Netflix a big deal, there is plenty of logic behind bringing in Scott for the episode.

Ripley Injury Reportedly Necessitated Crown Jewel Change

Rhea Ripley was reportedly scheduled to compete at Crown Jewel on Saturday before an injury forced WWE to make a change.

According to Meltzer (h/t WrestleTalk), Ripley is dealing with a fractured right orbital bone that will keep her out of action, and resulted in WWE calling off a scheduled match between her and Raquel Rodriguez at Crown Jewel.

On Tuesday's episode of NXT, Ripley made a surprise appearance, which proved to be a big mistake, as she was attacked in the parking lot by Liv Morgan and Rodriguez.

While the attack wasn't caught on camera, Morgan and Rodriguez were seen walking back into the building with smiles on their faces. Once the cameras got to Ripley, she was down on the pavement with blood all over her face.

Per Meltzer, Ripley suffered the orbital injury on the Oct. 21 episode of Raw due to a headbutt spot.

WWE never acknowledged the injury and still hasn't, but the decision was reportedly made to run an injury angle on NXT to explain her absence.

Rodriguez returned last month at Bad Blood after a lengthy absence by aligning herself with Morgan and costing Ripley in her Women's World Championship match against Liv.

While Ripley vs. Raquel will not happen at Crown Jewel, it figures to be on the agenda once Ripley returns from injury since her rivalry with Rodriguez and Morgan is clearly far from resolved.
