LA Knight defeated Andrade and Carmelo Hayes in a Triple Threat match at WWE Crown Jewel on Saturday to retain the United States Championship.
After both Hayes and Andrade narrowly missed winning the title with numerous near-falls, Knight hit Melo with the BFT for the pinfall victory to retain the belt.
Dating back to July, Andrade and Hayes have been embroiled in a heated rivalry that saw them face each other in a seven-match series on SmackDown.
El Idolo won each of the first two bouts, Hayes responded with two victories in a row, Andrade won the fifth and Hayes took the sixth to tie the series at 3-3.
During their feud, both also had run-ins with Knight, and since they each expressed a desire to challenge him for the U.S. title, SmackDown general manager Nick Aldis added some stakes to their "Game 7" match.
He decided that the winner of the seventh match of the series would get a title shot against Knight, and that The Megastar would serve as the special guest referee.
Not surprisingly, things went haywire, as both Andrade and Hayes accidentally made physical contact during the match, which set Knight off and prompted him to essentially ruin the match.
Knight hit both Andrade and Hayes with his BFT finisher, rang the bell and ruled the match a no-contest, noting that he was the true winner of Game 7.
A furious Aldis confronted Knight backstage during last week's SmackDown and punished him for his stunt by forcing him to defend the United States Championship against Andrade and Hayes in a Triple Threat.
It took Knight until the age of 41 to win his first main roster singles title in WWE, but Andrade and Melo were both clearly hungry to secure championship gold.
Hayes entered Crown Jewel having held the NXT and North American titles, but never one on the main roster. As for Andrade, he was a one-time U.S. champ during his first run with the company and searching for his first title since returning to WWE in January, aside from the WWE Speed Championship.
Despite Hayes and Andrade having plenty of incentive and motivation to win, Knight bested both of his rivals and retained the U.S. title at Crown Jewel.
