Video: 76ers' Paul George Says He'll Return 'Sooner Than Later' in Knee Injury Update

The Philadelphia 76ers appear to have avoided the worst with the health of Paul George.

During the latest episode of Podcast P with Paul George, the 76ers forward revealed the extent of his injury and said that he will be back "sooner than later."

"It wasn't nothing major. No concern," George said. "I didn't damage a ligament. I didn't damage a tendon. It was just bone on bone bruising from a hyperextension.

"I should be back hopefully sooner than later. It won't be a long timetable."

George suffered the hyperextension during the 76ers preseason game against the Atlanta Hawks when he knocked the ball away from Hawks forward Jalen Johnson. He is set to be re-evaluated on Tuesday, prior to the 76ers first game of the regular season.

He signed a four-year, $211.5 million contract with the 76ers in the offseason and will be relied upon to help lift the franchise to new heights. Philadelphia has reached the postseason in the last seven consecutive seasons but have failed to advanced past the second round.

George, who averaged 22.6 points, 5.2 rebounds and 3.5 assists in 74 games in 2023-24, should help the team contend in the Eastern Conference.
