After another back-and-forth game in the 2024 American League Championship Series, the New York Yankees came out on top.

The Yankees took down the Cleveland Guardians by the final score of 8-6 on Friday night, taking a 3-1 series lead and putting themselves one win away from the World Series.

New York jumped out to an early advantage, as Juan Soto launched a two-run home run in the top of the first inning.

The Yankees maintained a 3-2 lead through five innings before Giancarlo Stanton hit a three-run blast to left field. Stanton now has four homers in eight postseason games this year.

Similar to Game 3, Cleveland fought back. The Guardians cut the deficit to 6-5 due to RBI doubles from José Ramírez and Josh Naylor. Then, David Fry tied the contest with a one-run single in the bottom of the eighth inning.

The Yankees jumped back on top in the next frame, with Jon Berti scoring following an error on an infield ground ball by Brayan Rocchio. Gleyber Torres gave New York some insurance with his own RBI single off Emmanuel Clase before Tommy Kahnle secured the save in the bottom of the ninth.

Fans were impressed with the Yankees' performance as well as the home runs by Stanton and Soto.

The Yankees are now one win away from their first World Series appearance since 2009. They'll attempt to win the AL pennant in Game 5 on Saturday at 8:08 p.m. ET.
