The B/R Wrestling Staff Predictions for AEW WrestleDream 2024 Match Card

Doc-Chris Mueller

The second annual WrestleDream pay-per-view takes place this Saturday in Tacoma, Washington, and All Elite Wrestling has stacked the card with some interesting matches.

Bryan Danielson will walk into his home state as the world champion, but he is facing a man who seems more dedicated to ending his career than taking his title.

Here is the lineup for WrestleDream 2024:

As always, we have our panel of contributors here to offer predictions.

Kevin Berge

Darby Allin vs. Brody King

Who is the best choice to win after what we saw on Wednesday and why?

King would get a massive push from winning here, but I don't expect AEW is ready to push him big. Allin, though, is on the precipice of a main event run. I'd bet on him to be the world champion in 2025, so he needs to win here.

Mark Briscoe vs. Chris Jericho

Lay out the best way for this match to go.

Jericho invoked Jay Briscoe's name, so this needs to be brutal and focus on elevating Mark as a competitor. He should overwhelm the veteran and win clean to further solidify his ROH World Championship reign.

Mr. Jeff J

Will Ospreay vs. Ricochet vs. Konosuke Takeshita

Do you see the title changing hands?

At this point, it's 50-50.

On one hand, I could see AEW continuing Ospreay's reign so that he can go up against future challengers, eventually dropping the belt to someone in order to elevate them. On the other hand, it could take the title off of the Brit to free him up for a future world title program.

I have no clue what AEW wants to do with the world title over the next six months, so if these were betting odds, Ospreay to keep the title would be the heavy favorite.

Jack Perry vs. Katsuyori Shibata

How would you put this match together? Who would win and how would they do it?

I would have Perry try every underhanded tactic he could to avoid getting into a graps match with Shibata.

Destroy his phone so he can't Google translate with the ref. Have Shibata overcome the heel-ish tactics to get off his squared circle excellence.

The Scapegoat will have one more dirty trick up his sleeve (belt shot? Muta mist?) to turn the tide and keep his title.

Donald Wood

MxM Collection vs. The Acclaimed

Lay out how you think this match will go.

The duo of Mansoor and Mason Madden have been entertaining since making their debut in AEW and ROH as MxM Collection, but The Acclaimed is one of the most popular acts in the company.

While the match should be entertaining, this should be a decisive win for Max Caster and Anthony Bowens.

"Hangman" Adam Page vs. Jay White

White just returned and Page is red hot. How do you see this match ending and why?

As much as White deserves a marquee push to the main event scene in AEW, that should begin after his loss to Page at WrestleDream.

After concluding an epic feud against Swerve Strickland, the red-hot Hangman needs a monumental win to catapult him back into world title contention. He must win against White or fear losing credibility with fans.

Graham Matthews

Mariah May vs. Willow Nightingale

If Toni Storm was going to get involved, what would be the best way to use her?

May should retain her title regardless, so if Storm did get involved and rekindle her rivalry with her, it would be best for that to happen after May beats Nightingale.

Perhaps Mina Shirakawa will show up and attempt to play peacemaker or reveal where her allegiance lies.

The Young Bucks vs. Private Party

Is it finally time for Private Party to win gold? Why or why not?

Private Party have been long overdue for a run with the tag titles. It should have happened in the first year or two of AEW, but better late than never.

The tag team division desperately needs a significant shakeup and putting the belts on Private Party would be a step in the right direction.

Chris Mueller

Bryan Danielson vs. Jon Moxley

Do you think Moxley is the best choice to win the title from Danielson?

Mox being the one to put down the man he and William Regal began BCC with would be a poetic way for Danielson to wrap up his full-time career, especially in his home state.

It feels right and positions Mox as a monster heel with help from PAC and Marina Shafir. It's the best decision.

Hologram vs. The Beast Mortos

Both of these guys are relatively new to AEW. Who would you prefer to see win?

It feels like Mortos already having lost several matches in AEW puts him at a big disadvantage against AEW's first totally original character.

Hologram is undefeated and clearly a priority, so his winning makes the most sense. This will be great no matter what.
