With Saturday's win at Bad Blood, Cody Rhodes' long-running battle with The Bloodline might be over. A challenger has already lined up for the undisputed WWE champion, though.
After Bad Blood ended, Kevin Owens attacked Rhodes outside of the arena.
According to PWInsider's Mike Johnson, the moment was carefully planned by WWE to create a "viral moment." The altercation unfolded in front of fans, so it would inevitably be captured and shared on social media organically.
Rhodes and Owens previously battled on the same side, coming to one another's aid at various points to stave off assaults from The Bloodline.
The pair also wrestled at Bash in Berlin, a title opportunity Rhodes granted as a thanks for the help Owens had provided.
Now, whatever truce existed is gone and the split was inevitable.
Rhodes only needs to ask Sami Zayn how far friendship goes with Owens when KO sets his focus on winning a championship. It also became clear during the buildup to Bad Blood that things were coming to a head.
Sooner or later, Roman Reigns will want a rematch with Rhodes to avenge his WrestleMania XL defeat. He may have to wait in line for a crack at The American Nightmare.
