AEW Dynamite 5th Anniversary Results: Winners, Live Grades, Reaction and Highlights

Doc-Chris Mueller

Welcome to Bleacher Report's live coverage of the fifth anniversary of AEW Dynamite on October 2.

Here is a look at what All Elite Wrestling advertised for its big anniversary show:

Let's take a look at what happened on this anniversary edition of Dynamite.

Ricochet vs. Will Ospreay

Dynamite. AEW

Dynamite opened with PAC, Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli and Marina Shafir giving a promo directed at Wheeler Yuta and Danielson.

Ricochet was up first for his international title bout against Ospreay. They waited a moment before locking up and struggling for control. The crowd chanted "This is awesome" as they made a clean break.

They had a fast-paced sequence that ended in a double backflip stalemate and AEW chants. Before they were even in the ring for 10 minutes, they had already delivered a lot of great action.

There is no way to do this justice with a description. Much like Ospreay's bout against PAC, this was two of the best high-flyers in the world combining their talents to put on a fantastic performance.

It's been several years since these two could test each other, so we saw them use all of the tricks they had picked up in that time.

Considering it's unlikely to be their last encounter, it's good they left room to grow, but it's hard to think of many ways they could outdo themselves.

We saw them counter a lot of each other's big moves and even steal a few from each other before it finally ended with both men's shoulders being down when The Aerial Assassin pinned Ricochet.

It was ruled as a draw, much to the crowd's chagrin. Both men indicated they wanted the match restarted, so Tony Khan told them to keep going.

They began trading strikes, and Ospreay hit a Hidden Blade, only for Konosuke Takeshita to attack him and cause the ref to call for the bell. Big Take left both men down and out before posing with Billy Goat's title.

Result: Draw

Grade: A

Notable Moments and Observations

Adam Page vs. Juice Robinson

Dynamite. AEW

"Hangman" Adam Page was shown attacking The Gunn Club backstage before we returned to the ring for a Learning Tree segment.

Chris Jericho challenged Mark Briscoe to a match for the ROH title. He invoked Jay Briscoe's name and his brother knocked him down and accepted the match.

The next bout saw Page and Robinson begin fighting on the stage before even getting to the ring. Juice brought a strap from last week's bout, but Hangman took it and whipped him.

They battled into the crowd and up the steps where Robinson found a drink to throw on Page. Once they got into the ring, the bell finally rang.

Both men played solid offense, making this feel more competitive than expected. Hangman dominating wouldn't have been a surprise, but Robinson seemed to be hitting bigger moves.

Page won with a sneaky low blow, followed by a Buckshot Lariat.

Jay White made his return and took down Page. He chased Hangman into the crowd and put him through a table.

Result: Page defeated Robinson

Grade: B

Notable Moments and Observations

Serena Deeb vs. Britt Baker

Dynamite. AEW

The third match of the night saw Baker step into Deeb's Dojo for a match. DMD had her hometown crowd in her corner.

Deeb is known as The Professor of Professional Wrestling, and she seemed to dominate the early part of the match and keep the pace to her liking.

Baker also prefers a technical style, so these two worked well together. She did a good job countering some of Deeb's signature offenses, while The Professor made DMD look good by giving her a lot of energy.

This was a solid effort from both competitors, but Baker was able to pick up a win with her signature Lockjaw submission. Deeb attacked DMD's knee after the match, but Queen Aminata made the save.

Result: Baker defeated Deeb

Grade: B

Notable Moments and Observations

Private Party vs. Iron Savages; Bryan Danielson vs. Kazuchika Okada

Dynamite. AEW

Private Party squashed The Iron Savages in one of the quickest matches in AEW's five-year history.

They challenged The Young Bucks to a title match, but Jack Perry helped his friends attack Private Party until Katsuyori Shibata made the save.

Result: Private Party defeated Iron Savages

Grade: Incomplete

This week's main event saw Danielson and Okada put their titles on the line, but the continental belt was only up for grabs in the first 20 minutes.

The bout began with only about five minutes left in Dynamite's normal runtime, but Nick Jackson said the anniversary show was given a substantial overrun.

It only took a few minutes for them to exchange fast and furious holds, takedowns and counters.

Okada took control and maintained it after we returned from the break, but The American Dragon always managed to get back in the fight.

As time ran out on the continental title portion of the match, Okada rolled out of the ring to avoid a pin after a Busaiko Knee.

This was a fantastic choice for the main event because they delivered a great performance. Danielson pinned Okada with a backslide because The Rainmaker was distracted by Castagnoli in the crowd.

The Blackpool Combat Club attacked The American Dragon, while Moxley said none of this was about him. Yuta chased them off with a hammer, but Mox stood tall and almost dared him to use it.

Yuta grabbed a mic and said he and Danielson would face PAC and Castagnoli next week.

Result: Danielson defeated Okada

Grade: A-

The Final Word

For a fifth-anniversary show, it was interesting how few videos AEW showed to commemorate the biggest moments, but that did leave more time for action.

Another interesting thing is how few people from AEW's beginning were featured in matches. Ospreay, Ricochet, Danielson, Okada, Robinson and a few others who were featured in non-wrestling segments all showed up after AEW was going strong.

Baker vs. Deeb and Page vs. Robinson were both solid matches. Private Party vs. Iron Savages took less time than it took to type this sentence.

The two best bouts were Ricochet vs. Ospreay and Danielson vs. Okada. Each bout provided a completely different vibe.

If you like fast-paced, high-flying action, Ricochet and Ospreay delivered. If you like a more technical and hard-hitting style, Okada and Danielson had you covered.

This was an above-average episode of Dynamite, but it's hard to say it did a good job making the anniversary feel like a big deal.

Grade: B+
