WWE Rumors on The Rock vs. Cody Rhodes, Roman Reigns at Crown Jewel and Hikuleo Debut

Bleacher Report catches you up on the latest news from the WWE Universe.

The Rock vs. Rhodes Reportedly May Not Be for WWE Title

Amid rumors and speculation that Cody Rhodes and The Rock could clash next year at WrestleMania 41, it is being reported that their match may not include the undisputed WWE Championship.

According to Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio (h/t Subhojeet Mukherjee of Ringside News), it is "not a lock" that Rhodes will have a yearlong title reign, and the People's Championship was introduced as a potential contingency.

After Rhodes beat Roman Reigns for the WWE title in the main event of WrestleMania 40, he and The Rock had an in-ring confrontation on Raw.

The Rock was holding the People's Championship that was gifted to him by Muhammad Ali's widow, and it was a key part of the segment.

At one point, The Rock said that although Rhodes may have finished his story by winning the WWE Championship, the story between the two of them was just beginning.

Given Reigns' recent return to WWE programming and subsequent babyface turn as a result of going up against Solo Sikoa and the new Bloodline, there has been some thought among fans that WWE may finally be building toward the Reigns vs. Rock dream match at WrestleMania 41 with The Rock returning to take control of The Bloodline.

However, Meltzer (h/t Mukherjee) has been adamant that Rhodes vs. The Rock remains the plan, as he reported such just two weeks ago.

If the WWE Championship isn't involved in that match, it may be because Reigns has won it back, but there doesn't yet seem to be enough equity in the People's Championship to make it significant enough for Rhodes and The Rock to fight over without the WWE title being part of the storyline as well.

Reigns Reportedly Expected to Work Crown Jewel

Roman Reigns has worked limited dates in recent years, but he has regularly appeared on WWE's premium live events in Saudi Arabia, and that will reportedly be the case again in November.

According to Meltzer (h/t Mukherjee), Reigns is "probably" going to be part of Crown Jewel, which will emanate from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on Nov. 2.

It has already been announced that Reigns will team with Cody Rhodes against Solo Sikoa and Jacob Fatu at Bad Blood next month, plus Meltzer noted that Reigns is being advertised for Survivor Series on Nov. 30.

The Original Tribal Chief has competed in several memorable matches in Saudi Arabia over the years, including beating the likes of LA Knight, Logan Paul and Goldberg.

Given that he is WWE's biggest star, it makes sense that Saudi Arabian organizers would want Reigns on the shows, and both he and WWE have delivered in that regard.

If Reigns does wrestle at Crown Jewel, the big question is what match he will be involved in.

WWE could go in a few different directions, including putting Reigns in a singles match against either Sikoa or Fatu due to his rivalry with The Bloodline.

Another option would be for Reigns to get his WWE Championship rematch against Rhodes after dropping the title to him in the main event of WrestleMania. Although Reigns and Rhodes are teaming up at Bad Blood, there is still a great deal of tension and a rematch seems inevitable.

Whatever happens at Saudi Arabia could set the stage for Survivor Series and perhaps lay the foundation for a WarGames match between The Bloodline and a Reigns-led team.

WWE Reportedly Making Plans for Hikuleo's Debut

WWE is reportedly still discussing how it intends to debut former New Japan Pro-Wrestling star Hikuleo on television.

According to Meltzer (h/t Mukherjee), Hikuleo is already under contract with WWE and has been "for a long time," but the company is waiting for the ideal time to introduce him.

All signs point toward the 6'8" big man being involved in the Bloodline storyline in some capacity since he is the brother of both Tama Tonga and Tonga Loa, and was part of both Bullet Club and Guerrillas of Destiny with them in New Japan.

Meltzer speculated that Hikuleo will be part of the new Bloodline along with his brothers, Solo Sikoa and Jacob Fatu, although that has not been confirmed.

At Bad Blood next month, Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes are teaming up to face Sikoa and Fatu in a tag team match, and that could potentially be a sensible spot for Hikuleo to debut and aid The Bloodline.

After that, Crown Jewel and Survivor Series are scheduled for November, and The Bloodline figures to have a major presence on those shows.

If WWE books a WarGames match involved The Bloodline at Survivor Series, Hikuleo would make plenty of sense as the fifth member of The Bloodline team alongside Sikoa, Fatu, Tama Tonga and Tonga Loa.
