NFL Rumors: Lions' Amon-Ra St. Brown Avoids Major Injury After Scare in Bucs Loss

Detroit Lions star wideout Amon-Ra St. Brown reportedly only suffered "a contusion and cramping" during Sunday's loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter and Eric Woodyard.

St. Brown was seen hobbling throughout the 20-16 loss and left the game with about 30 seconds remaining, getting treatment on the sidelines during the final five plays of the contest.

"He's alright," head coach Dan Campbell told reporters of the two-time Pro Bowler after the game. "I don't think it is anything long-term, so that's good news."

St. Brown, 24, remains Detroit's top option in the passing game, leading the Lions in receptions (14) and targets (25) while ranking second in receiving yards (132) behind breakout third-year receiver Jameson Williams (200). He has yet to find the end zone through two games.

That pair has provided Jared Goff with a dangerous one-two punch on the outside, as Williams stretches defenses with his game-breaking speed, while St. Brown's route-running and reliable hands make him a threat both vertically and horizontally.

Add in tight end Sam LaPorta and running back Jahmyr Gibbs, and the Lions have a number of unique weapons to hurt teams in the passing game.

That offense was out of sync in Sunday's loss, however. Despite totaling 463 yards of total offense, the Lions turned the ball over twice, failed to convert on two fourth-down conversions late in the fourth quarter and settled for three field goals despite making seven trips to the red zone.

"They're a good team. We're a good team. It's early in the season. It'll be definitely a learning experience for sure for us to look at and go, 'OK, what went wrong and how can we fix it?'" quarterback Jared Goff told reporters. "I think if I remember correctly, we started 1-1 last year and we were able to respond from that pretty well. So, it's early in the year, but it's a good learning experience and a chance for us to dive into what went wrong and how to not let that stuff happen again."

A serious injury to St. Brown would have made a tough afternoon far worse. It sounds as though the Lions have avoided the worst in that regard.
