NFL Rumors: Chiefs' Isiah Pacheco Out 6-8 Weeks with Leg Injury; Will Go on IR

Kansas City Chiefs running back Isiah Pacheco is expected to miss six to eight weeks and be placed on injured reserve after suffering a fractured fibula against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and ESPN's Adam Schefter previously reported that Pacheco would miss "real time" and that he'd go on IR after initial tests revealed a fractured fibula:

Pacheco left Arrowhead Stadium in a walking boot and crutches on Sunday night following the team's 26-25 win over the Bengals, per Rapoport.

The running back appeared to sustain the injury after was tackled by two Bengals defenders on Kansas City's final drive in the fourth quarter. He left the game and did not return.

Prior to his exit, the 25-year-old racked up 90 yards on 19 carries. He also operated as a weapon in the Chiefs' passing attack, catching all five of his targets for 21 yards.

Jesse Newell of the Kansas City Star reported that Pacheco was "emotional" in the locker room, but he was still able to walk around before leaving on crutches.

Head coach Andy Reid revealed that the running back was having tests done on his ankle immediately following the game (via A to Z Sports' Charles Goldman).

Pacheco has utilized his hard-nosed rushing style to become a staple of the Chiefs offense since he was selected with a seventh-round pick in the 2022 draft. He earned a starting job in Week 7 of his rookie year, finishing the season with 830 rush yards. Pacheco improved in his sophomore campaign, amassing 935 yards on the ground in just 14 appearances.

He was off to a strong start to the 2024 season, recording 78 all-purpose yards and a touchdown during Kansas City's Week 1 win over the Baltimore Ravens.

In the meantime, expect Samaje Perine and Carson Steele to step into larger roles for Kansas City until Pacheco is able to return.
