Florida State's nightmare start to the 2024 season continued on Saturday, falling to Memphis by the final score of 20-12.
After starting off the season ranked No. 10 in the Associated Press Top 25 poll, the Seminoles are now 0-3.
D.J. Uiagalelei was inconsistent under center once again, finishing 16-of-30 for 201 yards to go along with an interception. He was sacked four times and lost 16 yards on his nine rush attempts.
Memphis jumped out to an early 10-0 lead in the second quarter after Uiagalelei's interception resulted in a 65-yard touchdown drive. Florida State wasn't able to find the end zone until the middle of the third quarter, scoring on a six-yard run by Roydell Williams.
The Seminoles still had an opportunity to send the game to overtime, trailing by eight points with just 46 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter. Uiagalelei led Florida State down to Memphis' 39-yard line, but a pass to the end zone fell incomplete with no time left on the clock.
Fans were far from impressed with the Seminoles as well as head coach Mike Norvell, who left Memphis to join the school in 2019.
After finishing with a 13-1 record in 2023, the Seminoles became the first team to clinch the under on their projected win total in 2024 (h/t Brett McMurphy of Action Network).
Florida State will once again try to earn its first win of the season against Cal on Sept. 21.
